Here's a photo of David Van Os, the spokesman for Bill Burkett of Memogate fame, addressing a major John Kerry for President rally in Austin last month.
This is the same rally that was headlined by HOWARD DEAN and made pretty big media coverage around the state at the time.

One plausible explanation:
1. Burkett and Dem operatives give photocopies of the forged memos to DNC/Kerry camp.
2. DNC/Kerry go to CBS to float the story, give photocopies of their photocopies for the story.
3. CBS sits on story until timing seems opportune (last week).
4. CBS gets source from DNC/Kerry camp, goes to Burkett who faxes them a better copy off the originals from Kinkos last week.
5. Document reviewer sees the Kinkos number and leads us to the Burkett connection.
That still leaves the Kerry connection out there and we should explore it more. But it also makes sense that CBS would try to obtain a first generation copy of the forgery direct from is source (which Burkett appears to be) rather than running one they got second or third hand as it filtered through the DNC and Kerry camp. Perhaps there was a phone call of some sort: "We've seen a copy of your document from the campaign but we need it direct from you for the story. Can you fax it up?"
Maybe once we get all the ties figured out somebody can draft one of those NYT style conspiracy web graphics that they used to smear the swifties!

If you wanted to you could also probably squeeze Howard Dean in there - e.g. Van Os connected to Dean connected directly to Kerry.
Something to ponder. But Burkett is still connected to the TX Dems and the Kerry campaign. Van Os is a major player in TX Dem circles. he clerked for David Richards (Ma Richards Hubby) , was the Travis County Dem Party Chairman (TCDP is the Dem County party that Rather attended a fundraiser for) and he has Union and all sorts of other connections. Barnes , the Vice Chair for the Kerry campaign has to know him. Now we know he attended a fundraiser for Kerry. This is too much. Kerry is connected. The Dem party forged documents to deceive the electorate on the eve of an election. Kerry is finished.
Americans love fair play. This is dirty. Kerry can hardly claim, like Carter did in '76, that he was bringing "honesty back to the White House." Kerry's word is lousy. Kerry's people are dirty. Kerry is an incoherent, selfish pol.
This forgery coupled with allegations that he phonied up the Winter Soldier Investigation will be a deadly one toe punch. Kerry isn't a truth teller or a truth seeker. Kerry is in a lot of trouble. Now we have to win this thing. We can't take anything for granted.
One other little tidbit that you might wish to consider is that the former secretary for Lt Col Killian (Bush's TexANG commander and the purported author of the memos) has stated publicly that the terminology used in the memos is Army not Air National Guard. Refer to:
http://www.drudgereportarchives.com/data/2004/09/15/20040915_143002_bushtang.htm
Now take into consideration that Bill Burkett was an officer in the Army National Guard in New Mexico. He admitted to using the New Mexico National Guard as a means to avoid the draft and service in Vietnam. He stated clearly that he did not believe in what we were doing there.
Wow, that idea really made me smile!
Also consider the plainly obvious aspect of this story. When Rather went after Bush last week he did not simply do one story. He did not do Barnes alone and he did not do the memos alone. He pulled a one-two hit over the guard story with both Barnes and the memos at the exact same time. What are the chances of both of those stories breaking on the same day? Zero. Rather knew about them both and had them both lined up as part of his package so they could feed off of each other.
Yes, and the Dems had the "fortunate Son" ad rollout and the Kitty Kelly "he did drugs that's why he didn't take his physical" tabloid book coming out. All of this was coordinated. IT was NO accident!! This stinks to high heaven and Kerry has to PAY.
Please save the photo for future use and find a host/server for it - the democrites will be pulling the photo soon enough.
I've got this strange feeling that David Van Os won't put the interests of his client, Burkett, before the DNC.
Brother, you got that right. Burkett is screwed.
Wow, no wonder the States where-ever the Demos have power are so screwed up. They can even screw up a simple fraud.
Sure glad I live in a Repub State!
David Van Os is a big player in Texas Democrat politics. He ran for head of the Donk party there and is a highly visible player.
He is not just any old attorney, as I had thought until yesterday.
Asked what role Mr. Burkett had in raising questions about Mr. Bushs military service, Mr. Van Os said: If, hypothetically, Bill Burkett or anyone else, any other individual, had prepared or had typed on a word processor as some of the journalists are presuming, without much evidence, if someone in the year 2004 had prepared on a word processor replicas of documents that they believed had existed in 1972 or 1973 - which Bill Burkett has absolutely not done - then, he continued, what difference would it make?
Just damn!
Qwinn
And Austin for Kerry is the site that hosted that Ben Barnes video that Jim Moore tipped off the media to. Very interesting.
How does somebody like Burkett afford an attorney like that? Hmmmm.
