Memogate: Burkett's attorney/spokesman hosted Kerry rallies in Texas

Here's a photo of David Van Os, the spokesman for Bill Burkett of Memogate fame, addressing a major John Kerry for President rally in Austin last month.

This is the same rally that was headlined by HOWARD DEAN and made pretty big media coverage around the state at the time.

Quite the incestuous little bunch, these democrats.
Carville is in the mix too.
And, isn't "ugly" from Texas too... Begala?

So the Kerry campaign involvement is starting to become clearer. What does CBS know about this?

Why won't they reveal their source and a full accounting of what happened?

GOPcap: You get this weeks Buckhead award.

This award, lovingly known as the "Bucky" is the blogosphere's equivalent to the old media's long-tarnished peebody award.

Burkett is the FALL guy, it's someone MUCH closer to the Kerry camp than this guy. There's NO WAY Rather would have said it was an "unimpeachable source" for this kook. Nor would he have worked so hard to try to dodge this.

No, he may be the "sacrificial goat" they offer up, but he's NOT the one who did this. It's likely 'Ol Terry boy, or Carville, or Rather's own daughter.

The REAL perpetrator is someone that Rather and dnCBS would LITERALLY put their careers and the entire dnCBS news organization in jeopardy of collapsing for.

No, Bill Burkett is NOT the man... And you can bet, if it turns out they name him, he'll either take the money and run and "admit it" or he'll deny it and note they're trying to make him the fall guy. But he is NOT the source of those documents.

LOL! Then I humbly share it with FR as a whole. All I'm doing and all anybody else around here has done is simply seek out the truth by using the vast resources of the web. Seriously - FR, and that means every single freeper, should be very proud of itself.

I should say that the Bucky is also the blogosphere's answer to not only the long-tarnished, but also to the oft- and long-discredited poolizter.

I'll put my money on your logic woodb01, this whole thing stinks to high heaven of somebody in high places calling the shots. I just hope they are found out and all of them come crashing down.

As David (Van O's) says, "It is all part of a big picture." We Texans have a chance this year to fight back hard against Karl's plan to steal away the people's government from the people. Placing David Van Os on the Texas Supreme Court will be one of Karl's worst nightmares. We the people have the power to make it happen.

Burkett is the FALL guy,

I suspect you are right. There is certainly more to it than this. But we should keep a close eye on Burkett because he's surrounded by some very well connected people.

My personal guess of who the real perpetrators are is as good as anybody's out there and if I were to take it I'd say Ben Barnes and perhaps Rather's daughter. That given, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Barnes, Robin Rather, and some other real sources in the Texas Democrat Party are all connected together and, at least loosely, with Burkett. Van Os is a well known player in the Democrat Party here and has been for years. He's been their statewide candidate twice, chairman of the Travis County Party in Austin (the same party that hosted Dan and his daughter a few years later at a fundraiser), and a whole bunch of campaign roles - like this latest with Kerry and Dean. That he's tied to Burkett is important - perhaps not the heart of the story that Rather's protecting, but Burkett is important. Also - remember just how sloppy and bad those forgeries were. Sloppy forgeries = sloppy paper trail, so while you can bet that Dan will try to CONTAIN this thing to Burkett, Burkett's fingerprints will probably go all around the Democrat Party too in a not-so-neatly-concealed fashion.

1. It seems odd that one would use a Kinkos where they had an account to pass along such secrets.

2. It seems that Kinko's would not normally discuss the status or services obtained by any of its customers.

But in a setup, both things could easily be arranged.

This is the SMOKING GUN!!!

Kerry's in trouble on this. This is like the Lowell Watergate of the 1970s. Kerry is a dirty SOB.

You might also be interested to know that David Van Os was an associate in the law firm of David R. Richards.

http://www.vanosforsupremecourt.com/vanos_biography.htm

For those of you that haven't made the connection yet, David Richards is the husband of Ann Richards, the former Governor of Texas that was defeated by George W. Bush.

Do you smell a bit of vendetta here?

I've got this strange feeling that David Van Os won't put the interests of his client, Burkett, before the DNC.

2. It seems that Kinko's would not normally discuss the status or services obtained by any of its customers. Yes, though OTOH Kinkos employees tend to be low paid college student types working the wee hours of the morning. A phone call to one of them could easily produce an uncoached response of "oh, yeah. That guy comes in here all the time."

That said, you are absolutely correct that we should not dwell on Kinkos alone. It's a small part of a much larger web, IMO. We're only starting to scratch the surface and it is but one single lead and connection out of many.

I just knew Ma Richards, aka the Thorny Rose of Texas, was going to end up somewhere in the middle of this. It just wouldn't be a good old fashioned Texas political scandal without her. I mean, before now you had all the other components: Dan Rather and family, Ben Barnes, perhaps even Begala & Co but one thing was missing: Ann Richards. Well, here she is!
