In the wake of the massacre in Russia a couple weeks ago, I discovered that New Hampshire has a freedom even I didn't know about: A state law protects the second amendment rights of teachers and parents even when they are in government schools.
Here is part of an LTE I wrote about this in a New Hampshire paper:
------- ...there is a lot we as individuals in New Hampshire can do to make this state a more difficult (terror) target. Start taking advantage of the wonderful and almost unique self-defense freedoms we have here. For instance, if you're a teacher, you have the opportunity to act on the lessons from Columbine and Russia. Schools are helpless neutered targets in most places, but New Hampshire law allows our teachers and parents to be prepared. If you're an adult with safety training and a pistol permit (easily acquired), for God's sake don't come to school unarmed! You can carry concealed or openly most anywhere except a courtroom, protected by state law so long as you do not brandish or threaten. If you *run* a school or business, please consider *supporting* guns there rather than opposing them. Gun freedom is one of the main reasons we have low crime in New Hampshire; it can also be the thing that makes us the least desirable terror target. Contrary to popular belief, guns can be carried very safely. And they can turn a massacre into a fighting chance.
Don't rely on Mr. Bush or the police to protect your students or let some bureaucrat-in-denial keep you from taking this responsibility. If you're an adult under the roof of a school, you're the last line of our childrens' defense. --------
And here is an article on it from one of the gun-grabber websites about school gun freedom in NH and Utah:

Revel in their panic....and join us in the Free State, where crime is lowest in the nation. Your guns and your love of liberty will both be welcome.
I grew up in New Hamppshire, and every year during hunting season it was not unusual for us kids to bring our hunting rifles and such to school...
rkba bump
I remember in high school going to my locker and seeing a kid walking down the hall carrying a shotgun. I didn't even think twice. He was just going to use it in speech class. Of course, this was 1977.
Went to HS in 66-70. Brooklyn NYC.
We had a rifle team, and they could take their guns home to practice. We also had a fencing team, who took their foils home every day. And as I played baseball after school I carried a 32oz piece of Louisville slugger with me.
The PC world is all screwed up.
We as CHP holders have that right in Texas schools as well...as long as we keep them hidden...and don't get caught. Which I do.
~~We don't need no stinkin' unconstitutional laws. The robes don't tell me what to do anymore, and like G Gordon Liddy, I am prepared to take responsibility. But I no longer obey unconstitutional gun regulations regarding where or when I can carry.
I was unaware of this. Thanks for the eye opener.
I support this.
