What the hell is going on here? Or why is CBS clinging so ferociosly to this lie?

"lets take care of it now (what can we do)?"

Sit tight and see what the new docs are. I'm making a reasoned guess on what they are, but I could be completely wrong. If they are the two other docs, then they were produced by the same bunglers and discredited immediately. If something else, the "war room" at the WH will consider the best possible approach.

I was doing some oppo research. I actually went to some of these bizarre anti-Bush sites to see what they've got. There is no direct factual evidence quoted by any of them
that I can see would tie the President to drugs IMHO. It's got to be way more than hearsay or bungled forgeries. If there had been something, it would have been brought out in 2000. The best they could do was the DUI, nothing worse.

Yes, that was hilarious. Poor Williams--I think he really doesn't care that much because it was clear that he hadn't even been following the story. I laughed when he said that the point was that Bush disobeyed an order to report to a physical when the whole purpose of that document was to "prove" that Bush was given such an order. It is ridiculous to assume that statements made in a forged document are true when the same forged documents are the only source of those assertions. Hume, sharp as a tack, blasted him immediately for that and you could see the other guys trying hard not to fall apart laughing. A great TV moment.

Well, based on what has been posted here, I am betting that those other two docs where the ones being "held" for a later date.

TOAST. :)

So maybe I am simply getting too uptight. I sincerly hope we see some major poll swings. maybe we have with the ny and nj bumps recently released.

Are you sure that's not what you're doing here at FR?

Remind you of anybody you've heard from lately?

Nope. You've lost me. Who? Who's a freeper sleeper?

The stark difference between Rather and Nixon is, Nixon apologized and resigned at noon the next day. Rather insists on sandbagging the newsroom.

Caddell also did a stand-up job commenting on Hardball during the Florida Fiasco.

Someone on another thread posited that CBS is holding out because they have hand-written notes and are waiting for a Bush denial before releasing them as a 'Gotcha' - thoughts?

Should John Kerry demand that CBS and Rather scrap this insane smear just like he whined that the President should call off the Swifties?

absolutely not. I hate going to those sites. They leave a dirty taste in my mouth, not to mention they have the most incredibly bizarre ideas I've ever seen.

If anything can help the President, I will do research. Otherwise I am prayer support for his re-election and have been for 4 years.

Tough call; one for another thread perhaps because it's an extremely important issue now. I agree that hearings now would be spun against Bush as "partisan attacks on freedom of the press". At the same time, an MSM collaborates with the DNC or its operatives--wittingly or unwittingly--in order to gin-up the most important national election in fifty years. Legal action would provide attorney-client privilege cover for CBS, so no revelations would come out until real hearings start, which would not be until after the election I imagine. I say do the FEC or criminal charges route after the election (unless we get a full confession before then).

There are several things going on here at once. The first is that memogate was supposed to be the first hit in a one, two punch. The second hit was/is supposed to be the October surprise. That was supposed to be another memo which indicated that a pilot named Bath, was grounded at the same time as Bush for using cocaine, Rather was/is going to say that through guilt by association, Bush used cocaine also and was afraid to take the physical because he might get caught in the newly instituted drug testing. (I've been told that drug testing didn't start until 1982).

The second reason is that the DNC doesn't care about the veracity of the story. They passed the memos to Dan because they knew he would run with them and that's what they wanted. (Dan is computer illiterate) The DNC just wants to fill the air waves with so much garbage that the voters tune out all the truthful allegations about Kerry's Vietnam service. Their purpose isn't a Kerry win, however, they just want to insure that Bush has no coat tails in the congressional elections. Got it?

Sorry. I just noticed a couple of posters on this thread that seemed like trolls trying not very hard to blend in. Then I went to DU to look around because that is a bad habit I have. I found that hysterical post and came back here to share it. The imaginary freeper sleeper was at DU, not here.

All clear now?

Good. I think I will go to bed.

Homey

Bush is above it all. It's not his concern. He's working. Others will take care of the little democrat stuff.

Oddly enough, CBS is doing the wrong thing from a pure ratings perspective. They are obviously in the best position to "scoop" the real story.

This forgery story is getting old. It's been proven a forgery, so it's getting boring anyway.

Remember, the Silver Star with Combat V citation that appears on Kerry's campaign Web site bears the signature of former Navy Secretary John Lehman. But Lehman said that he never signed the Kerry award, raising questions about whether his signature had been forged.

You would have liberals jumping out of windows everywhere if Rather came clean...

I don't think so. I honestly don't believe that anyone who took Rather seriously last month would be all that effected by irrefutable proof that he is a certifiably perfect fraud this month.
