Thanks TGYC. How are your Coasties doing?
My favorite is "Killer Queen", by Queen. My daughters favorite since she was a wee one too.

I'm a Nut
(source: "The World's Best Funny Songs", Esther J. Nelson, 1988; this song is called "Acorn Brown" in "The Worm Song and Other Tasty Tunes, Janet Wilson, 1993.)
(actions in brackets)
I'm a little acorn round (make circle with thumb and forefinger)
Lying on the cold cold ground (wave arm across front with palm facing down)
Somebody came and stepped on me (stomp foot)
That is why I'm cracked you see (zig zap motion with forefinger)
I'm a nut (clap clap), in a rut (clap clap), I'm crazy (circle finger around ear)
Called myself on the telephone (dial phone)
Just to see if I was home (pretend to answer phone: pinkie and thumb extended like phone)
Asked myself out for a date (point to self)
Gotta be ready by half past eight! (yell this lyric while shrugging shoulders with palms upwards like you're excited)
I'm a nut (clap clap), in a rut (clap clap), I'm crazy (circle finger around ear)
Took myself to the picture show (walk with fingers)
Sat myself in the very first row (draw a line with finger)
Wrapped my arms around my waist (wrap arms around waist)
Got so fresh I slapped my face! (slap face)
I'm a nut (clap clap), in a rut (clap clap), I'm crazy (circle finger around ear)
Thanks very much to Carrie Kelley, who sent me this extra verse:
Grandpa's beard is long and white!
Sleeps with it under the covers at night!
Grandma thinks it's shredded wheat!
So she chews it in her sleep!
Thanks very much to Eva Gorny, who sent me this extra verse:
Took myself on a rowboat ride,
Me, myself, and I inside,
Looked into the stars above,
Told myself I was in love.
Hi Trussell!
Very nice song choice.
Thank YOU Diva for everything you do on behalf of our heroes, their families, and the rest of Canteeners!
They are doing great!
And tomorrow is my favorite day of the week.
I'll be "on duty" with them!
Thank you for breakfast and flowers Tonkin!
Welcome to the Canteen!
Mr. Blue Sky by the Electric Light Orchestra.
Will do. I always tell him who says "hi" whenever he calls. (Sometimes he doesn't have time, so I save it for the next call.) It's always a long list of people. I can almost hear him blushing over the phone!
Wildflower
She's faced the hardest times you can imagine
And many times her eyes fought back the tears
And when her youthful world was about to fall in
Each time her slender shoulders
Bore the weight of all her fears
And a sorrow no one hears
She rings in midnight silence
in her ears
Let her cry, for she's a lady
Let her dream, for she's a child
Let the rain fall down upon her
She's a free and gentle flower
growing wild
And if by chance that I should hold her
Let me hold her for a time
But it allowed just one possession
I would pick her from the garden to be mine
Be careful how you touch her for shell awaken
And sleeps the only freedom that she knows
And when you walk into her eyes you wont believe
The way shes always paying for a debt she never owes
And a silent wind still blows that only she can hear
And so she goes
Let her cry, for shes a lady
Let her dream, for shes a child
Let the rain fall down upon her
Shes a free and gentle flower
growing wild

Outstanding! I may be an old Jarhead, but I have a soft spot for Coasties, that dates back to when they went out in rowboats in ANY weather, to assist mariners in distress. (Reference the 'Birkenhead drill')
I think we last spoke when I lived back in California, and you had a boat stuck out on the wrong side of the bar on a mission in evil weather. That was incredible to follow online!
I kind of miss the left coast, even for all of it's insanity...
