I understand. Let's focus on the goal. Speaking of which Drudge is reporting that the memos were faxed from Austin, TX. The home of Texans for Truth(Lies)

Do you know to whom the memos were faxed from Texas?
Surely not the copies that CBS faxed to the White House.

B-I-N-G-O!"In telephone interviews this week from his home near Abilene, Mr. Burkett, 55, a systems analyst with 27 years in the National Guard including service as deputy commandant of the New Mexico Military Academy, said he happened to be in General James' office at Camp Mabry in Austin in mid-1997 and overheard Mr. Allbaugh on a speakerphone telling General James that Mr. Bartlett and Karen P. Hughes, another aide to Governor Bush, would be coming to the Guard offices to review Mr. Bush's military files." (from this New York Times article of February 12, 2004)

Thanks for the tip. Drudge just has a siren and headline, no story yet.
If CBS had only faxes, and not even the copies from a copier...???
Texas could be anyone. There are partisans on both sides down there.

Ya know what, I don't really give a rats behind what she said. Nice lady or not. CBS could have cut and pasted that interview to come off any way they wanted. I mean, we are suppose to believe what they show us because ... why? Because thus far they have been so darn upfront and apolitical and honest. Plus this interview comes on the heels of all the brouhaha. Nothing like creating a perfect forum to address all of the discrepancies. I figured they may do this. But I thought they would have more ammunition than a poor 86 yr. old lady.

And so what if Bush's representatives did go there prior to announcing candidacy for Presidency, to see if there was anything that he had forgotten or needed to know so he could speak truthfully about his records.
Where Burkett goes bonkers (and he had a couple nervous breakdowns from what I hear) is that he claims they were dumping stuff in the trash.
He has a personal axe evidentally as he was turned down for compensation for claimed injuries in Panama around this timeframe.

Ok..now I know why I never watch Dan Rather. I think that all of the characterzations I had previously read were right on. Dan Rather did ask her if she typed those memos. She said she did not type those memos but said that she "did type documents with the same information in them that the others stated"
To: NavySEAL F-16
The article mentions the abbreviations OETR and GRP. From what I read elsewhere (sorry, no link) the abbrevs should be OETR is wrong and GRP was routinely written as GP.

I read some interesting stuff about this Burkett character...he's been trying to sell "info" about W for years. Most MSMers have completely dismissed him as being an extremely impeachable source (LOL) and wouldn't touch him or his "info" with a 10-foot pole. I need to go try to track down the article I read. It was most insightful. If the documents were faxed to CBS from Abilene, this would be quite significant.

I wrote a check with a phony signature but I'm sure it represented the sentiments of the depositor.

Okay, here we go:

I would like to hear a real newsman interview her rather than Blather who sounds like a defense lawyer leading a witness in a Perry Mason show.

Centering is a much bigger issue than the superscript in my opinion. I'm not positive but I think the secretary said she left-justified headings and sigs.

I don't think he sounds like a defense lawyer leading a witness, I think he sounds like he is trying to seduce her!

If Burkett did make the forgeries wouldnt he have known the proper terminology? According to the secretary the terminology wasnt that of the guard?
I am a newbie please dont burn.
