The secretary confirmed that physicals were given during the pilot's birth month, which, for W, was not May.
Also, notice Staudt's name was not brought up during the iinterview.
Also, was W in Alabama at the time these memos are dated?

He (Rather) just doesn't give a damn; he's out to bring down the president. Yeah, but he's going to fail.
And, someone should remind this old coot he hasn't the time left to rebuild his legacy.
To: Right_in_Virginia
O.K. Tonight I have officially had enough of the BS at CBS. Tomorrow begins boycotting of CBS sponsors at this house.

>>"Rather may or may not know who actually wrote the forged memos. He knows where they came from, though, and he ain't gonna tell. He just doesn't give a damn; he's out to bring down the president. You'll never see him interview Killian's wife and son or anyone else who has a contrary view. His closing statement was total hogwash."<<
Exactly. This old women is not Jesus Christ , who has made her story the undeniable truth??
There are many others who have the opposite point of view!!
This is such an outrage.
I am so pissed!
To: TomGuy
Is that Dan Rather or maybe.....
Could it be????????
Dr Strangelove?
To: Right_in_Virginia
This old lady is a nasty, snide BITCH!
To: mystery-ak
Yup. let's roll--the sponsors are going to hear from me and I will refuse to do business with any business linked to Rather and the DNCBS--emphasis on the BS.

Relax, folks, and back off on the 'addled old biddy' stuff. She's contradicted herself so many times, no one is going to take this seriously, particularly after the 'selected, not elected' remark she made a couple of days back. This isn't going to save See-BS's bacon.

CBS has learned nothing from the Tylenol poisonings of the 1980s: do a complete dead stop; pull the faulty product; give a full and exhaustive explanation of what went wrong and how it's been fixed; carefully restart, stressing how it is a new beginning.
CBS's handling of this is a PR disaster.

The pajama people are going to have a field day with this folks.
But I did hear something on Hardball that gave me pause. Liberal reporter for the Chicago Trib said that he predicts that somebody who recanted their story (I'm assuming Hodges, if Warren wasn't talking about teh Secretary, and I don't think he was) will recant the recant.
Why are they changing their stories? What are they beign offered?

"So when is Dan going to do a 60 minutes segment on Kerry's FBI files and his service discrepancies?" Was John Kerry still a Naval Officer when he met with the enemy in France?

This is nuts! How stupid and arrogant can they be?!
ALL THE OLD HAG IS GIVING OUT IS HEARSAY! It's only her opinion... she originally was asked to just verify the memo's! Now, her HEARSAY IS CBS'S STORY INSTEAD OF THE MEMO'S!

Brit Hume runs circles around the best of them over at the Old Media. CBS came into this with their minds made up and now they'll desperately scrounging for anything that will prop up their fraud, including taking advantage of a very elderly lady. They have no shame. If you think their President's statement today was Clintonesque, you ain't seen nuthin' yet.

Could this be a lay-up -- getting ready to say he didn't take his physical because he was afraid of drug testing? There's a rumor that CBS is just laying groundwork with this.

contradiction These are not real," Knox told The Dallas Morning News in a story posted Tuesday on its Web site. "They're not what I typed, and I would have typed them for him." Knox, 86, said it was doubtful Killian himself would have typed the memos, which he routinely hand-wrote and which she then transcribed on her typewriter. The handwritten notes routinely were destroyed, she said.

People, can we POSSIBLY post all the facts on this thread????? We don't need a hundred threads with ONE THOUGHT on them. Thanks. OK, here goes, based on what I've read.
- The documents in question match MS-Word perfectly. If you type in MS Word, the character spacing, etc. is the same as it is in Word.
- Some typewriters in the early 1970s had special characters that did the "th", "nd", and "rd" as superscript. Some of these were special keys. Other times, you'd have to change the ball to an 8 point or 10 point ball.
- Some typewriters had proportional spacing.
- Nonetheless, no one to this day has been able to use an old typewriter and come up with a document that is substantially similar to the documents in question.
- What many people don't realize was difficult to do, but was indeed very difficult, was to center things properly on a typewriter. Especially with proportional fonts. If you had a courier font, then it was simply a matter of counting characters and dividing by 2 to see how many characters you needed to be from center. But with proportional fonts, this is indeed very difficult. You'd basically have to type the text on another piece of paper, and then measure it, and then divide by 2 and indent the proper distance from the center. Centering is a much bigger issue than the superscript in my opinion. Not because it wasn't theoretically possible, but because it required so much legwork that it would have not been worth the effort to get it this exact.
- One of the generals referred to in the letter, General Staudt, had retired 18 months or so before the memo. CBS claims he still exerted influence. Yeah, right. If he was dead, CBS would still defend their memos. Their defense is pure idiocy. Really.
- The PO Box was valid, but was not for that particular unit or division.
- CBS is in too deep now. They'll keep on defending it no matter what. It doesn't matter what turns up now. They've gone this deep, and they're beyond the point of no return. They're not going to retract now. It's like Michael Douglas in Falling Down.
I'd love a few more clarifications to the list...
