Does "flew" hundreds of hours mean maybe one hundred filghts, or would you factor in all the pre- and post-flight time.
You only log the *flight* hours. Not the ground pre/post flight activities. A rough estimate might be 3 ground hours per flight hour, just for the flight activities. That wouldn't count all the other "military" stuff an officer, even an LT, has to do.

Carl Bernstein on Hannity says the story is ..not fraudulent documents but ta da....."What did your daddy do in the war" and Bush was clearly a shirker...
THIS is the story that is important this Presidential election??..Have the dems gone nuts?
The story is that CBS, in an effort to discredit the President and influence an election put on fraudulent documents to back up an old recycled story...and will not admit the fraud!

"Accurate", they are now? What is "is"?
This whole thing is absolutely insane.
Rather and CBS are generating a series of carefully worded stories on this. Most recently they more or less acknowledge that almost everyone in the universe is quite sure the foundation of last weeks political smear job is fraudulent, but still cling to it with an endless parade of Bush haters with bits of hearsay suggesting that if such documents ever existed in real life, that is what they would say. I almost can't believe this is happening, it is just bizarre.
And now we have kindly old Mrs. Knox, who says she knows she didn't type the memos but did type some similar ones.
Oh, and she was also quoted in the media yesterday uttering that tired old "selected not elected" line.
So with proper coaching, she came off as a nice old lady, but in reality is just another in that endless parade of Bush haters.
But that's all they have, and the lot of them are more likely to be liars than not.
My theory is the driving force behind this insanity is that legal problems will emerge once they make the acknowledgment that these documents are fake, and they will be compelled to reveal the source, and that revelation is one that they know would be devastating.
I have read a lot of speculation on that, one that has been repeatedly mentioned is a CBS producer that had to cool her heels for a while a couple years ago in an unrelated source protection scheme, but I think if it was her they would have just let her burn. So I think it's bigger - but who?

Having watched 60 Minutes II tonight, it appears now Rather's credible source is Killians secretary, and it sounds as if Rather is still not backing down. According to Rather's ending statement after his 60 Minutes II report tonight, he's sane and the critics are kooks. Rather then suggested that everyone look into the heart of the story, and not how/why CBS is biased. According to Rather, the reason this story is out there is because George Bush got preferential treatment getting in and while in the NG. (That part made no sense to me no matter how I look at it).
It would raise anyone's eyebrows if Bush had gotten preferential treatment to stay out of the NG, not trying to get into the NG.

I have a theory also. During the RNC, Dan Rather said he wanted to retire, or something like that. He probably can't get out of his contract, so he pulled this stunt to get CBS to fire him. Ok, maybe not, but we can hope can't we.

Thanks.
Lt Bush put in full time active duty hours for several years, it would seem, and if there was any "special favor" granted him it looks like it was for more flight time than usual, not less.
The Dems can go pound sand!

I gather she was not a private secretary to Killian, but a pool typist. If that is indeed true, it should be easy to prove through personnel documents. That would be the final nail in the coffin.
