"We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television. There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know. Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing."

That just proves that they couldn't get the story they wanted to put out approved by the lawyers. They were coming up on the time that CBS News was to go on the air and they had to put something together real quick.
Don't you just hate parsing of words? They think they've bought a few days here to clean up the mess Rather made on aises 4-7. They have no idea just how diligent pajama people can be when they know the quacking is coming from a duck.

Meanwhile, CBS did the limited hang-out all day long, until CBS NEWS Pres, Andrew Heyward released a statement about 30 mins ago, saying that the DOCS ARE ACCURATE and that they stand behind them....

Note that they didn't say whether they were fake or not. Just that they were "accurate".
Since these are the only evidence whatever that says that Bush was ordered to take a physical (even though he didn't need one because Alabama didn't have planes he could fly). And they are the only evidence that says people were attempting to get him favors. Then, how could they have any clue if the memos were "accurate".
By the way, ALL sons of congressmen get special treatment by the military. Whether they ask for it, or need it, or not.
I know eight-year-old kids who can do better on the fly.
