"You know that monitoring NPR can make you take a likein' to Kool-Aid?"
What I think it leads to are dents in the dashboard and a raw throat, plus worried glances from other drivers.
SOX, as you point out, is a different animal than any other securities law. It's not just corporate counsel that will twist. SOX allows you to come after the CEO's personal property. CFO too.
This whole thing may be enough to invite vampires into your house looking at things they ought not in addition to investigating this fraud. Congress is now in on it too.
Would you agree that whacking Dan would end this? I think it would, and that may be what's being discussed. Whether whacking him would put it to bed.
Would Rather sue in response?

Are the documents reported by CBS News regarding George W. Bush's National Guard career authentic, or are they faked?
Thank you for participating in our poll. Here are the results so far.
They're authentic. I believe Dan Rather
38%
They're fake. CBS News is wrong.
62%
***It was from Andrew Heyward, and he basically said CBS stands by the documents, but, because there are so many questions, CBS will redouble its efforts to answer the questions.***
So, WHERE'S THE BEEF...ER...THE PROOF, DANNY?
Odd how Buckhead and Howlin are never seen together in the same room! Evil twins, separated at birth. Freudian alter-ego driven neuroses?
Or just your average pajama-bound, major-network-destroying, FREEPers, enjoying another beautiful day in the blogosphere?
This story really has been pretty amazing.
The part of it that really stinks is that I will now have watched excerpts of the cBS Evening News for 3 days now. Talk about time you'll never get back.
Statement by the President of CBS News, Andrew Heyward:
"We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television. There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know. Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing."
coroborating ? (must have used a typewriter)
The main CBS new website. They still have the memos available online.
LOL!
Rather has been on every fraud CBS News has perpetrated for the past 30 years. If CBS dumps him he rats. IMHO, that is the only reason CBS is staying with him.
It took this long for Rather to convince them to not fire him.
Guess they will do it tomorrow.
If they've been interviewing the old lady secretary all day, obviously they didn't get out of her what they had hoped or the statement would have been different.
Just MHO.
Ex-staffer: Bush records are fake - Secretary to military officer says she never typed the memos
By ROBERT CROWE and JULIE MASON A former secretary at Ellington Air Force Base is challenging the legitimacy of documents used to discredit President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard, saying the records are probably fake because she never typed them.Marian Carr Knox, 86, former secretary to Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, worked at the Houston air base from 1956 to 1979. She is now retired.
"They're forgeries as far as I'm concerned because I didn't type them," Knox said Tuesday at her southwest Houston home.
Last week, Knox said she had no firsthand knowledge of Bush's time with the Texas Air National Guard, although she did recall a culture of special treatment for the sons of prominent people, such as Bush and others....

So, did these journalists interview Knox last week? Seems so...
CBS took all day to say nothing?
Seems like CBS has decided to ride the Titantic down to the depths. Wow.

To quote Peggy Lee: Is That All There Is?
Weather channel just reported up to 45 foot waves. Sure am glad not to be on the Gulf coast tonight. Prayers for all who are in danger.
So somebody give me the short version. I had to get a blue thingy and get into my official FReeping uniform before settling down. Did they ever issue "the statement?"
Perfect!
BTW, you were awesome last night :-)
I'm sure Rather has an attorney (especially in light of Chris Cox's investigation demands).
I expect Rather to negotiate to stay until after the election and leave at year-end.
This non-statement is the death knoll for Rather and CBS. He just wrote their obituatary.
CBS is paying its lawyers a gazillion dollars an hour to come up with lame excuses like this. My little boys can do better than that on-the-fly and for free.
Good Grief .. They are FAKES!
Well ... looks to me that CBS is covering up Big Time for someone and it ain't Dan
