Somehow I didn't get that memo ... heh heh ... until this thread. Boy oh boy, I know that now!! That's ok I didn't know it either. We both missed the memo
To: ncpatriot
I'm just pickin' random bloggers. Too much traffic to sort it all out.
Overheard in CBS board room:
Dan: "STUNE THE OLD BROAD, I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES!!! GET OUT THE BIG BEEBER, AND LET 'ER HAVE IT!! IT'S ALMOST 6:00 YOU MORONS!""

I emailed my local CBS station and asked them considering Dan Rather blatant lies, is it a common practice throughout the CBS family, even locally. No response.

Can you imagine what Dan's got to be going through? His whole career is in the hands of the veracity and believability of an 86 year old woman.
My grandmother, who I love dearly - more a mother to me than my own mother, is 86 exactly, and she can plan her own surprise party at this point.
He has exactly ONE source for the content of the story versus all of the sources saying that both the content and the memos themselves are crap. General Officer in charge said it was crap. Wife of Killian - crap. Son of Killian - crap. Secretary - 5 minutes to Wapner . . . What!? . . . Speak louder.

They are trying to sober Dan up long enough to stick a gun in his mouth.

"Say, you don't suppose they have kidnapped 'Buckhead' do you?"
Actually, hints that MSM types would gun for one or more bloggers started last Thursday. NPR wrapped up thursdays update with the statement "questions are being raised about the how the blogger raised questions so soon after the broadcast".
(I monitor NPR sometimes strictly for enemy intel purposes)

"So, they're going with: "the memos are fake but the story is true."?"
How can they do this with a straight face? This goes from what should have been a legitimate news story to tabloid-style he said/she said stuff. Amazing.

"I'm just dying lying to tell you the truth."

You lose all your legal protections from libel and slander and unauthorized use of your face, etc., when you die, at least that's my understanding of the general law. There could be some exception somewhere. (This is not legal advice.)
So the day someone dies, trashy people can say anything they want about the dead, true or false.
Public figures have only limited protection from libel and slander.

It sounds to me that Rather's "unimpeachable source" is Burkett, the paranoid ex-guardsman with a history of mental problems.

I was only kidding but someone thought it was series. ;)

There could be some exception somewhere. California would be one of those exceptions, where the right of publicity survives your demise.
