CNN just reported that CBS is coming under fire for its document experts. It interviewed one of them, who insisted she told CBS there were problems, and it referenced another who says he told CBS before they ran the story that if they put them out on Wednesday, 100 document examiners would be asking the same questions he was on Thursday.
But most importantly, I think, was a quote from Marcel Matley, who said he told them he could not authenticate the signatures ONLY THAT THEY CAME FROM THE SAME SOURCE.
This is HUGE. Basically, all Matley appears to have done was compared the forged signatures to one another. Please let me know if one of you saw the story and read it differently than I do. Even if I am misapprehending the meaning of his quote, and what it meant was that he confirmed they came from the same source as "real" Killian signatures, he still admits that he couldn't even authenticate them that way. But his quote seemed to indicate he meant they were just from the same source as each other.
the SS CBS with the Skipper Rather aregoing to go down hard and fast if they dont come clean.
I heard this yesterday on Rusty Humphries. The hole just keeps getting deeper.

Anchors Away!
Matley is NOT A LICENCED DOCUMENT EXAMINER at all!
CBS committed a fraud that Nancy Drew could have figured out in aboutg 15 minutes.
Did they really think they'd get away with it, or is there something I'm missing...
In other words the "handwriting expert" confirmed that they were all forged by the same person. Well that's good to know! Top-notch reporting, CBS.
Interestingly, Matley previously wrote a published article saying you couldn't even do that without the originals.
ABC did this yesterday. They're all finally jumping on the sink CBS wagon. Guess they won't b collaborating with CBS on what should be on the nightly news any longer....
Time to invest in bauxite futures.
Thanks for the ping!
If I understand you correctly, I must say I made the same mistake last Thursday morning.
I posted that I thought both signatures from the CBS documents came from the same hand (establishing that they were signed--or forged--by the same person).
But that's not the point. The point of authentication is to compare the CBS sigs to previously authenticated Killian sigs.
I'm just a schlub in pajamas. If CBS did this, accidentally or intentionally--with all the staff and prep-time they had--I gotta say they are MORONS.
This is huge. We know they rolled without even getting the docs authenticated. Dan isn't a victim in all this. Dan was just being Dan-- many of us on the Right have known for a long time that Dan is a corrupt, partisan SOB.
Matley is, however, qualified to authenticate handwriting (kooky as some of his "spiritual readings" may be). But because of the risk of cut-and-paste jobs, it is virtually impossible to authenticate photocopies of signatures.
But what has bothered me is that the signatures I've seen from real Killian documents don't look like these. If Matley only compared them to one another, I could see him saying they came from the same source without verifying their authenticity.
Isn't this the guy who authenticated the Vince Foster suicide note? And he is not CERTIFIED???????
Betting that this is an old old trick....see a hot story, run with it even though the sources may be questionable....make a minimal apology if and when caught....meanwhile you've made your point and the damage is done....in this case, raising questions about Bush credibility
