Dan Rather To Bush: ‘Answer The Questions’
"With respect: answer the questions," said Dan Rather, the CBS News anchor. He was asking a direct question to President George W. Bush, his re-election campaign and his political allies in the press and on the Web. "We’ve heard what you have to say about the documents and what you’ve said and what your surrogates have said, but for the moment, answer the questions.
"I say that with respect," he added. "They’d be a lot stronger in their campaign if they did do that."
On Tuesday, Sept. 14, Mr. Rather remained steadfast despite a brutal onslaught of criticism from Bush defenders—including Laura Bush—critics and competing news organizations over the authenticity of memos reportedly typed by Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, Mr. Bush’s squadron commander in the early 1970’s, which suggested that Killian felt pressure from his superior to "sugarcoat" negative evaluations of the future President’s performance.
Since 60 Minutes reported on those documents on Wednesday, Sept. 8, their veracity has been assaulted by Web critics, politicians and document experts who put the burden of proof on Mr. Rather, his producers and on CBS News, and say that the reputation of the news organization is at stake. Rather was medically unfit, asthma, I believe it was. He never did complete recruit training with the Marines, yet he bills himself as a Marine. I doubt that sells well to real Marines.
Full details of Rather's short stint in the military are in Stolen Valor, a book I recommend highly. It also exposes some other parts of Rather and CBS's long history of using fake vets to smear real ones -- like CNN did with "tailwind," like AP's Elliot Minor did with Ahmad Majied.
Notice how many of these phonies show up on the left? Rather, Micah Wright, Harkin, Ahmad Majied (the AP's phony "SEAL" that FReepers were instrumental in exposing -- not that the AP corrected their lie), and of course, the king of the phonies, Kerry himself. And that's just in this election cycle.
After finding out that a 1988 Rather "documentary" used phonies to deliberately slime Vietnam vets, the then-head of CBS told an interviewer how proud he was of Rather for doing it. If you served in the military (and were more of a success than private Dan), these people hate you.

They will always support Socialism, welfare-statism, hard-line Communism, pro-Castro, pro-(former)-Sandanista types, any pro-Stalinist types, etc. They have no other option but to be leftist. They really can't help it.
On the one hand, they malign any Conservative candidate that comes along, yet on the other hand, they unconditionally and uncritically support any Leftist candidates. They can't help it. Leftist liberalism is as hard-wired into them as D.N.A is in an over bred, rabid dog.
