NEW YORK Two new polls suggest there was a post-convention bounce for President Bush even in heavily Democratic New York.
The Quinnipiac (KWIN'-uh-pee-ak) University Polling Institute shows Democrat John Kerry leading Bush, 47 percent to 41 percent in New York. But those numbers have narrowed from a pre-Republican National Convention poll. The earlier survey had Kerry leading Bush, 53 percent to 35 percent. In each poll, Ralph Nader had four percent.
The new poll also finds Bush's approval rating rising to 43 percent in New York, up from 37 percent in the August poll.
A second statewide poll -- from Marist College -- has Kerry leading Bush, 48 percent to 40 percent, in New York. In April, a Marist poll had Kerry with 54 percent, and Bush at 37 percent.
This is good news and will hopefully continue to get even better.
They just have to ask themselves, who will better protect us, a cowboy or a girly-man windsurfer with lovely fingernails.
Hugh and Oi vey!!
Great news
This is such a disater for Kerry.
With things this close, even if Kerry does win due to the electoral college, I think it's impossible for him to get the majority.
Quick someone, who can stomach it, pop over to DU and see what they are saying.
Could polls showing close races in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey be ploys by the liberal media to entice Bush/Cheney 04 to spend money there that would otherwise be spent in Ohio, Wisconsin or Florida?
Anyone got the figures for margin of error?
LEMMING ALERT!
LIBTARDS standing by to guzzle the Kool-Aid.
They are saying there will be a deadly October surprise, around the 13th. Deadly to Bush campaign that is.
Both candidates have their own internal polling that we rarely see. Neither is dumb enough to use polling done by the MSM.
It will only be a disaster for Kerry if the polls translate to votes on Nov 2.
It is very unsettling to see all the celebrating about poll leads. We are in a life and death struggle against the Dems who have already vowed to destroy the Constitution by court fiat in overturning this election.
We will lose, and badly, if we lose the sense of urgency necessary to crawl over broken glass to get to the only polls that matter on Nov. 2.
DO NOT BELIEVE OLD MEDIA'S EARLY ELECTION CALLS. GO TO THE POLLS. DO NOT LET THEM CLOSE THE POLLS IF YOU ARE IN LINE.
IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT BE TRAVELLING OR UNABLE TO GET TO THE POLLS, VOTE ABSENTEE BALLOT.
PRESIDENT JOHN F KERRY. PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES JOHN F KERRY. Say it often. It can happen if we lose focus.
Remember the young Marine in Wendy's with Kerry's finger jammed into his chest. Think of that young man waking up in Iraq and learning that he must serve under Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces John F Kerry.
As a Reagan Democrat turned Republican, and as someone who usually feels trapped up here in the land of the Liberals, all I can say is WOW! The fact that JF'nK is ahead of President Bush by 6 point +/- is telling of the disarray that the Keerry campaign is really in.
On and after 9/11, New Yorkers got to see first hand the leadership of President Bush. They may not have voted for him in 2000, but they quickly learned that we are all Americans before we are a member of any party. Almost 3,000 New Yorkers died that day, and our nation - in NYC, at the Pentagon, and in Shanksville - was attacked. New Yorkers may not agree with President Bush on everything, and I'm sure that they don't, but many do agree with his focus and determination to destroy those who sought to do us harm three years ago (and earlier). Many will tell you quietly that Kerry is NOT the man for the job. Kerry is unfit for command. Heck, Ed Koch understands, and that is why he too is endorsing the re-election of President Bush.
New Yorkers could care less about the Vietnam War or Tax Breaks or whatever. All most of us care about is seeing the Islamic Fascists defeated, and President Bush is by far and without exception the only candidate capable of carrying out this campaign against terror.
In four years there has been nothing that sticks to this President. There will be no surprise, except for the Surprise on Kerry when he loses in landslide proportions.
Is NY a lighter shade of red?
Moved it from safe to strong, and came damn close to moving it all the way to leans-- only the strange improvement to 11 pts among LV when moving from RV in the Marist poll gave me enough pause to stop me.
