WASHINGTON — A veteran who testified to John Kerry (search) about atrocities he committed in the Vietnam War (search) is now claiming that the Democratic presidential candidate coerced him to tell tales.

Steven Pitkin, an Army combat veteran, told FOX News that Kerry coached him and others to say they had witnessed war crimes, even after Pitkin told Kerry that he had not.

I think we Freepers can be objective about this. My question is why did Pitikin wait till now to come out with this? Why didn't this come out during Kerry's Senate campaigns? Not saying the charges aren't legit, but the timing of this is suspicious.

Yeah, but Kerry's ex brother in-law who works for the Kerry Campaign will sign an affadavit claiming he was present at the incident and that Kerry not once asked anyone to make anything up or to lie.

I heard it verbatim yesterday.

That Kerry camp is a real pile of refuse. It's kind of like Stephen King's "The Stand". All the evil vermin of the body politic are being called to the Kerry camp. I can't help but draw the analogy.

So Kerry was never out of his sight for the entire weekend? He heard every word that Kerry spoke that weekend?

Steve Pitkin was one of the speakers at the "Kerry Lied While Good Men Died" rally in DC this past weekend. He broke down into tears when he asked the veterans there to forgive him for what he had done. It was a very emotional moment. The veterans hollered back that they forgive him.

My husband was a veteran who did two tours in Viet Nam and Thailand. He had the lousy homecoming complete with rotten vegetables and ugly names. He died in April of this year. If he had been there, I know he would have been forgiving also.

Well of course the absurdity of the Kerry relative's comment and quest to sign an affadavit was absurd. The point was that nobody is investigating this but the media. And the media has no compelling authority to hold anyone to the truth. Remember Sid Blumenthal's press conference after his grand jury appearance. He absolutely lied about what was asked of him to the national press, knowing full well that anyone setting the record straight would go to jail for doing so with grand jury testimony.

The press who was lied to and then carried his lies forth to the airwaves, celebrated Sidney's tenacity for taking on a grand jury. When it was discovered they were duped months later, they did nothing.

Who says the Clintonistas can't do a lot of damage? Look what their examples of conduct have done to Dan Rather and CBS?

Just like in a court of law, ya can't use this guy...
I, like millions of Viet Nam vets, know that there were no "mass atrocities" committed by combat vets but this guy has no credibility...was he lying then or is he lying now?

And we now know that the large majority of the so called "combat veterans" who were members of the Viet Nam Veterans Against the War had not even worn the uniform much less set one foot in combat in Viet Nam!

Bottom line:
Kerry knows he lied about his medals and the mass atrocities, his C.O.'s and fellow officers and crew mates know he lied and now we know he lied!
Next case!

I think in an earlier and longer story on Pitikin, he said he needed a ride somewhere, and Kerry wanted to use Pitikin for testimony and convinced Pitikin he might meet chicks at the event. This young dude was just lookin' to get laid!

I wonder if Dan Rather had any involvement in the coaching. I guess it could have been legitimate, since 'everyone knew' it was true, and the actual documentation doesn't matter.

I'm convinced, and I'll take it to my grave, that the U.S. deserted Vietnam under false pretenses because the public was misled by the likes of Kerry, Rather, and Fonda. That's the real problem. Everybody 'knows' it's true only because those they rely on so-called trustworthy sources for factual information.
