Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry will be the guest at 7:29 am eastern. Senator Kerry has a lot of convincing to do, beginning with the I-Man.. whose support has waned in recent weeks. Despite several polls to the contrary, both campaigns acknowledge a 5-6 point lead for President Bush. Many analysts say it's a result of a post convention bump, and the GOP's ability to make the focus of the election national security and Kerry's record. The challenge for the Senator is to now put the emphasis back on domestic issues while separating the War in Iraq from the War on Terrorism. Can he turn the tide while continuing to play defense? Can he turn all the anti-Bush sentiment into a spark that ignites the Democratic base? Does he think it will ultimately come down to the debates? Will he finally be able to clearly frame his views on Iraq? Is John Edwards the VP candidate he thought he would be? John Kerry has his work cut out.. but, he can take a big step forward on Wednesday morning when/IF he answers the tough questions from IMUS.

OK, now it's fun. Imus jumping ugly on Kerry.
How ugly?
""Imus is going to zing him good when they hang up"
"Imus might throw in a criticism but he still wears his Kerry kneepads. Count on it."
You've got that right. Imus is the only media person I've seen who consistantly refers to the canidate he prefers (Kerry) as "my guy".
It's ok.. if we can get the transcript, we can tear it apart... remember Kerry has to survive to the debates and election... it's important that he's confortable talking.. we need to hear him unfiltered and unscripted - its where he makes all his mistakes
Off topic slightly, but while everyone is here:

Question is that normal wording?
(especially the "REPEAT" part
I don't know what your're looking for. Imus is not O'Reilly or Matthews. The interviewer does not always have to be in your face. I've been through depositions. It's an art.
But they don't like him, think he is a terrible candidate and is making fun of him.
Well, maybe that's why Kerry should keep his handlers. We don't want him to win. And his incessant droning turns voters off.h
Good line! :)
No, he doesn't want to subject himself to a real press conference. He has no answers to the questions raised by the SBVT, among other things. He is hoping to tread water until the debates, which will probably not raise many of these questions. Kerry's last hope is a major event in Iraq or a 9/11 attack in the US.
Me too. Its hard to understand that you win by getting certain things on the record. You don't get things on gthe record by putting the other person on the defensive. The best lawyers at this make one feel comfy and snugly.
Imus voted for Clinton, then he was McCain's "boy" as he put it when Bush and McCain were operating, but admitted he is a registered Republican.
Now he is whoring Kerry. Can't seem to focus on what he wants any more.
All that oxygen deprivation has affected his grey (really grey) matter.... I have met 90 year olds with more sense than this jerk.
I used to be a fan and have watched him deteriorate from his self-abuse and now he is merely embarrassing.
The whole show are hypocritical and do anything for shock value no matter who they hurt.
BTW - they hate Blacks and Women. I have never seen such blatant racism and sexism as this gang....
So Imus and Kerry together should spin a fine tale.
The important thing to remember for an interview like this... it doesnt matter who Don Imus 'likes' thats not what we're looking for... it's what Kerry says. Imus' analysis isnt important now..
He would do the same thing he did here. Simply say they are all lies, he hasn't read it, next question.
It is easy to tear up what Kerry says. The point is he just received some free air time to give his standard stump speech and had no challenging questions. Next stop will be Larry King for another softball interview.
Craig Crawford told Imus earlier that he was fortunate to have Kerry on because he hasn't been talking to any of the other media.
Imus is the sole source for commentary for many people.
Imus just told Gregory that he asked Kerry a thousand questions about Iraq, but he doesn't have an idea of what he said ..
Then mentions how he's going to vote for Kerry
Imus just said that he is voting for Kerry. He also said that Rumsfeld is a "war criminal" and that Wolfowitz should be "executed"!!
