CBS News has been had. It's hard to reach any other conclusion about newly discovered documents that CBS and anchor Dan Rather are defending as revealing the truth about George W. Bush's military service.
Despite Rather's statement Monday that the network "believes the documents are authentic," the evidence keeps mounting that they are not. As The Times reported, conservative bloggers detected glaring inconsistencies, such as a Microsoft Word type style. So many other discrepancies have since emerged that it would require a willful suspension of disbelief to take them as merely coincidental.
It doesn't take documents for anyone to realize that . Bush pulled strings to get into the National Guard. And, during the Vietnam draft, nobody went into the National Guard out of passion to defend his country. It also doesn't take new documents to establish that Bush shirked even his National Guard duties when he moved to Alabama and then to Harvard Business School.

I wonder how far CBS will go to back his story this time. Can CBS afford to have 60 Minutes damaged for the sake of Rather's vanity?
"And, during the Vietnam draft, nobody went into the National Guard out of passion to defend his country."
I wonder if this person would say this out loud to a group of National Guardsmen from that era.
Bones
Absolutely, nothing short of complete dismantling of CBS will allay our righteous indignation. Their continued existence would be a continuous insult to our intelligence. They belong in the dustbin of History.
"Bush pulled strings to get into the National Guard. And, during the Vietnam draft, nobody went into the National Guard out of passion to defend his country."
1. Who were the strings? 2. Wannabe pilots could jump over the waiting list to get into the National Guard because of their skills and brains. 3. George W. Bush, during pilot training in 1968, is on record of volunteering to go to Vietnam as a pilot. 4. After training, the military was no longer going to use the type of jet Bush was trained on.
5. Since George Bush's pilot training wasn't going to be of any worth to the military, Bush decided to just finish out his stinct and move on.
6. George Bush received an 'honorable discharge'. 7. Honorable discharge proves one was an obediate soldier and fullfilled his duties.
LOL!
It's the 21st Century version of peasants with pitchforks!
Seared, seared in the mind.
"I wonder if CBS is paying attention to the pounding they are getting in the rest of MSM. Rather must live in an Ivory Tower served by yes men if he hasn't noticed.

This is from allahpundit.com tonight:
Allah's got a little mini-scoop for you courtesy of a friend who works in the newspaper biz. According to my source, CBS will be putting out a press release tomorrow reiterating that it stands by its story. Yes, you read that correctly. As of fifteen minutes ago, that's the plan.
My source told the person he spoke to at CBS how crazy he thought that was. The response: "This comes from way above me."
A reader e-mailed me an hour ago to say that he called the CBS phone number listed below and the voicemailbox was full. Rathergate had 3,000 faxes to CBS in the queue as of 10:47 p.m. Let's see if anything changes overnight.
IT IS SEARED IN MY MIND.
Who do you think, LA Times? Hint: it wasn't Karl Rove.
