A Possible Important way to Influence this Election
Vanity

Posted on 09/14/2004 5:09:54 PM PDT by topher

Senator John Kerry, Senator Tom Daschle, and Senator Ted Kennedy have some important things in common.

They profess to be Roman Catholics but are STRONGLY supportive of abortion.

However, there is a group trying to educate Catholics that voting for Pro-Abortion candidates are wrong.

This is Priests for Life. If you look at their webpage, it becomes clear they are trying to get Catholics to vote as Faithful Christians and Faithful Citizens -- the above is a bulletin insert they have to explain the wrongs of voting for Pro-Abortion candidates.

The Priests for Life Website is:

Priests for Life WebPage

For example, they offer the following brochure:
Ten Responses for Pro-Abortion Politicians brochure

Additionally, the head of Priests for Life, Father Frank Pavone, has been speaking on different issues weekly and in some cases, has had multiple airing on different Cable Channels -- in particular the Catholic Channel EWTN.

Additionally, Roman Catholics are the single largest group of voters (by religious denomination) in the country. Former Catholics (or some call them fallen away Catholics is the second largest group.

So if there would be a way to educate Catholic voters about how wrong it is to vote for a Pro-Abortion Politican, let alone a Catholic politican who supports STRONGLY partial birth abortion, then you find a target group of voters to influence.

There is a Catholic organization that is trying to educate Catholics on the importance of abortion and euthanasia over other issues in terms of voting.

This group is Priests for Life, a group strongly supported by the Vatican.

It is trying to educate Catholics that is it very wrong to vote for Pro-Abortion Politicians because abortion is the killing of an unborn baby by the mother.

Any form of killing of innocent life is strongly condemned by any good Christian Church

Now if you put 2 and 2 together, donating money to Priests for Life indirectly helps the conservative movement. Why? They are focusing on getting people to realize how wrong it is to vote Pro-Abortion -- a moral issue that they have a right to inform people about.

Since Liberals and Democrats strongly support abortion, in general, supporting Priests for Life will help, in my opinion, this country.

Just as people are donating to the Swift Boat Veterans, it is my opinion that donating to Priests for Life will help conservatives and Republicans.

The numbers are that there are about 60 million Catholics in the US. And there are about 40 million former Catholics.

Priests for Life is addressing this voting population in terms of moral issues -- with a focus on the fact abortion is wrong.

Those who can, I strongly urge them to visit the Priests for Life website and perhaps finding out ways to help Catholic Churches promote good citizenship and moral, Christian voting.

They cannot endorse or say anything about candidates but only give advice on morality.

But as in the case of Archbishop Donoghue of Atlanta after his statement condemning Pro-Abortion politicians, a parishioner in Atlanta got up during a homily (sermon) and claimed that the priest was telling him to vote for Bush (which was not true).

In that case, the priest was telling the people the moral and sin of voting for Pro-Abortion candidates . This is different from saying you must vote for such and such a candidate, as there are probably other candidates who are against abortion besides George Bush.

What Priests for Life is currently doing is helping Catholics and even people of other religions know why it is wrong to vote for Pro-Abortion candidates.

It is my opinion, and my opinion alone, that giving financial and other help to Priests for Life at this time will help George Bush and perhaps some Republican Senators in some key states.

But basically Priests for Life is saying the equivalent of having Gladiators in Roman times fight to the death for sport is wrong and they would be against such a thing. It is immoral and it is the taking of innocent life. And the Christian Churches must take moral stands.

TOPICS: Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: catholic; formercatholics; plurality; priestsforlife; prolife
Please note they do not take sides in the election. The purpose of this organization is to promote Pro-Life morality in the Catholic faith, but they have inter- denomational material, and they help with Post-Abortion healing.

I am asking FreeRepublic, especially Catholics, to consider giving to this organization, or look at materials that might be used at your church, even non-Catholic Christian Churches.

My understanding of Priests for Life is that Father Frank Pavone has been so successful in August with the shows he has had regarding morality, and the duties of the Christian Citizen, that ordering materials from Priests for Life is backed up.

You can Pray for George Bush and do other things, but giving financially to Priests for Life might be a way to give Bush the edge is some key states just because John Kerry is a Catholic who is Pro-Abortion, which to any good Catholic would mean he is not a Catholic in good standing with the Church, especially with his strong support of Partial Birth Abortion.

Please pray and consider giving to this organization or looking at their materials as a way to get materials into your Church -- Christian or Catholic.

God bless.

Kerry strikes out as a Catholic the man is faithless and the pope needs to censure him:

Strike 1: Divorced Catholic that remarried.
Strike 2: Support abortion (worse believes that life begins at conception and then supports the ending of that life.. nothing short of murder here)
Strike 3: Supports homosexual relationships.

Kerry Your Out.

I agree with how HORRIBLE Kerry is, but the focus of my article is an organization that may help conservatives and Republicans in this election.

It is sad that the Leadership of the Roman Catholic Church is against abortion, but there are many Prominent Catholic politicans who support abortion.

It is my belief that support for Priests for Life is one way of helping the conservative cause.

Now volunteering at Republican Party Call Centers, posting signs, informing people of the information about Bush versus Kerry are also excellent ways to help the Bush campaign.

But my key point is that the Catholic vote is one of the key voter groups in this country.

We need to frame Kerry for what he is -- a bad Catholic so Catholics turn away from voting for him.

My understanding of Priests for Life is that Father Frank Pavone has been so successful ....
Father Pavone is a force for all that is good. Many in Our Church today are just plain lazy when it comes to following Church teaching. They are simply not being taught because too many priests are liberal and care more about their tax exempt status that pointing toward Traditional Church teaching. I agree with topher that this is a simple cost effective way to bring votes to the proper side. Ignorance and apathy are rampant in the Catholic Church. There are many simple, heart of gold people available, that would vote in line with the Traditional Church teachings and very much against a "Bad" Catholic who in their eyes doesnt follow the rules.

Absolutely he is a bad Catholic and yet when asked he proclaims his faith. I believe he has put his political ambitions above his faith.. It is a mystery to me how this guy lives with himself.. God will judge all things.

As a Catholic in a semi-liberal NY diocese (who moved from a ten year stint in an ultra-liberal western NY diocese...)

I can say that, depending on where you are, the local leadership of the RC Church may be rabidly liberal on matters of faith as well as politics.

I worked for a 'big red' campus ministry as a choir director. At a 'faith sharing' staff session, I addressed this very issue of abortion. I suppose I was naive to expect even a neutral response...the reaction seemed almost like an apologia for Planned Barrenhood/Banned Parenthood/Planned Parenthood. Scandalous, really.

Donate to Priests for Life...Fr. Pavone has a wonderful ministry. But say a quick prayer that Catholics will actually vote Catholic this November. Praying for Kerry's reversion might also be in order.

Mrs. Heinz-Kerry and her connection to The Tides Foundation is not ‘new‘ news. The Tides Foundation’s connection to moveon.org isn’t breaking news, either. Nor is moveon.org’s connection to Texans for Truth. What is lesser known is the Communist Party’s willingness to back Kerry in this election. They’ve encouraged their members to vote for him instead of their own candidate. Their sole reason? Getting rid of President Bush. The W.W.W.P. (The Socialist Party) openly brags of infiltrating the unions. They brag about having Party members placed in positions to negotiate contracts for union memberships. Many of the people who give money to these organizations and political parties are common to all of them as financial endorsers - except for The Tides Foundation. They’ve created a loophole. It’s called the Tides Center. Many of these individuals and organizations also finance International A.N.S.W.E.R., Greenpeace, and other such political activism. CBS has some members of the Communist Party employed in rather high places as well. A comparative analysis between “The Communist Manifesto” and the current mission statements of several known groups and political parties is also in order. Pop Quiz: Guess whose philanthropic trust is financing, in part or in whole, all of these rabidly anti-American groups, lobbyists, PAC’s, and parties? Hint: The AFL-CIO is technically not a trust.

You don’t have to believe me. Do your own research.
