"It was General Staudt, not then Lt. Colonel Hodges [who succeeded Staudt], that was putting on the pressure to whitewash Bush. For instance he didnt take his flight examination or his physical. And the pilots had to take them by their birthdays. Exactly. Bush's birthday is July 6th. The phony memos re the physical pre-dated this by a period of months.

Texas Guard Secretary surfaces: says CBS docs 'forgeries', but stands by accusations against Bush. Okay, two things:
- It's refreshing that someone admits the docs in question are forgeries
- I find it incredibly doubtful that a secretary would have direct access to Bush's records and remember them in any reliable capacity after 35 years.
Sounds to me like Ms. Knox was paid off...but not at a high enough sum.
"I did not type these particular memos. I typed memos like these," Knox told the DRUDGE REPORT from her home in Houston.
Thank you for that admission, Ms. Knox. Now please refrain from acting like you even know what the hell Bush did or didn't do in his ANG service. Thank you.

I just heard it Brit mention the sec. to Killian! She said the docs are forgeries, BUT that it was known around there that W was not very well liked or something like that and what was on the memos were the feelings of some of them there ...HERE WE GO FOLKS, FUEL FOR THE RATS! :(

"What really hecked me off was when it was somebody on TV, associated with the White House, who said that all of this information was lies. And I got excited at the time because I knew that I had typed documents with this information because a person like Bush stood out from the others -- because of his association with his father."If CBS had contacted her before it ran the story, and shown her the memos, she could have saved them a lot of embarrassment. They could have deep-sixed the memos and just gone on her word that Bush had missed a physical and that Killian thought Staudt was pressuring him. Dan Rather would have his hit piece on Bush and there would be no "forgery" fol-der-al to distract from the issue and destroy Rather's credibility.

The more I think about this, the more it has to be Bill Burkett guy behind this.
Burkett was a member of the Texas Army National Guard and Knox claims that the memos used "army lingo."
We know Burkett hates Bush and has an axe to grind.

This has the makings of a carefully concocted set up.
They made these documents so that their veracity would be challenged and now they can trot out their real source... Mrs. Knox.

Ms. Knox states emphatically that she is not acting for political motives, and has no formal relationship with any political party.
Huh? I thought she said that Bush wasn't qualified to be President and that she didn't vote for him in 2000 and wasn't planning on voting for him in 2004. So ... yes, she DOES have a political motive for saying that the content of the letters is valid but the letters themselves are not. She's trying to do what Dan Rather and CBS News wants ... ignore the problem of the letters authenticity, while addressing their content. I'm sorry, that's just nonsense.

"Knox told the DRUDGE REPORT that she did not vote for Bush in 2000 because he is 'unqualified' for the job, and does not intend to vote for him in 2004, either."
...motive and lack of credibility regardless of disclaimer.

Yeah, and she's been silent all this time about Bush - even waited five days before coming forward with the information that, while the memos cBS has were forgeries, she typed "memos similar" -- really? Then they must exist somewhere, dont they? Why aren't THOSE originals being produced, then, instead of hacked up computer frauds?
I'm also amazed that she can remember a memo's contents with such clarity after having typed it some 30 years ago. I type some pretty nasty stuff, working for lawyers, and I couldn't remember the "general gist" of something I typed 10 years ago. But that's just me -- your mileage may vary...

It is totally irresponsible for Knox to inject herself in this way. She has already had the benefit of reading the forgeries, so of course it's a piece of cake for her to claim she heard similar stuff from Killian, even though it was thirty years ago. What a shame she can't PROVE he told her any of this stuff by providing DOCUMENTATION.
Her word is garbage and should be totally discounted.

The dems are trying real hard now to deflect the forgery issue and keep a bead on the fraudulaent info in the forgeries. Right along Dan Rather's talking points. But, why not state the obvious...if the info was real and true, there would be no need to make forgeries.
They have simply found a doofas way of saying they forged the memoes, but the information is real...which is another lie piled on top of all the others.
The Colonel would not have had his secretary type such a CYA memo...just like the son says. But beyond that, the Colonel did not have a need to type such a memo, and never did.
It is pathetic to watch these liars weave their web of lies and get entangled in them.

It just shows that Democrats will lie through their teeth to defeat Bush. She admits their forgeries, but says they are accurate. No proof. No evidence. Just more lies.
To: ambrose
Oh pulleze. Sounds to me like a set up. She admits their forgeries (because, frankly, FR already PROVED that) but says the CONTENT is correct. Uh Huh. Sure it is.
Hasn't the libbie left been saying "it's what's IN the memos that is important" all along? This woman is a ringer.

"I did not type these particular memos. I typed memos like these," Bingo. She's the "background info" source.
Too bad they didn't get her to type them out on an old IBM Selectric.

"My guess is that someone in the outfit got hold of the real ones and discussed it with a former Army person." What the heck does this mean, anyway? And, if someone got hold of the real ones, why not use those instead of forging new ones?

"
Knox explains that the August 18, 1973 date typed on one of the "forged" documents proves that they were faked. Group Commander Staudt, who allegedly had been putting pressure on Killian, retired in 1972."
"It was General Staudt, not then Lt. Colonel Hodges [who succeeded Staudt], that was putting on the pressure to whitewash Bush. For instance he didnt take his flight examination or his physical."
These statements can not be reconciled somethings still screwed up. The physcial in question was in 73
