Americans should realize that if they vote for President Bush's re-election, they are really voting for the architects of war Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz and the rest of that cabal of neoconservative ideologues and their corporate backers.
I have sadly come to the conclusion that President Bush is merely a frontman, an empty suit, who is manipulated by the people in his administration. Bush has the most dangerously simplistic view of the world of any president in my memory.

I think what Reese is saying is that President Bush lacks nuance. This is a good thing. I don't want a president with nuance. I want a straight shooter who says what he means and means what he says.
Reese wrote a lot of good things about clinton. But since Bush was elected he went off the rails.
I suspect that he has a large streak of antisemitism which is distorting everything from behind the scenes.
I think you're right about Reese. He is not well informed and like Paul Harvey and others, one really finds out how FOS they are when they begin communicating about a subject one is familiar with. I used to read his column when he wrote for the Orlando Slantinel.
Yeah, I did too. Miss him dearly from those days.
Charley Reese went round the bend long ago. Who cares what he thinks?
No, Jim is apparently better able to tolerate criticism....than some people. Who knows? Perhaps he will dump you before he dumps me! After all, a founding vision of FR was support for smaller government. Jim and I agree on that. Do you?
Funny guy! LOL!!! Now, that we have that out of the way, do you actually have a fact-based argument?
Isn't that the old Lenninist - Stalinist thing? The left always ends up loving dictators, but some of them start out opposing them.
Do you support George W. Bush?
Reese thinks "true conservatism" consists only of wishing the absolute destruction of Israel. And he's not alone, unfortunately.
If you don't know the difference between Bush and Kerry, then there's no point in wasting an argument on the likes of you.
I don't know the difference and neither do you. There ain't none worth a dime.
Err....um....I have still here so obviously he "tolerates" people who are against. Sink, you need a long rest.
I haven't heard anything good about Charley Reese in a long time. I think you are just a little behind the curve.
Interesting statement, first half is true, second half is a lie.
Probably - but the positive stuff I did read was gleaned from comments on our good old FR.
on general topics not involving the middle east, or the iraq invasion, reese is often to the right of many of his detractors on FR. Prior to the intifada starting to appear in the news several years ago, 9 out of 10 reese articles were very well received, since almost none of the dealt with israel. If you go far back enough in the archives, you can see the transition.
Charley finds fault with israel in everything it does. He uses the reverse of his own arguements in criticizing israel. In only one article has he noted that suicide bombing is a bad thing, recently I think. Israel could commit mass suicide and he would find some way to criticize them yet.
The only time I've agreed with Reese that I can remember was a recent piece praising Bush for allowing the ugly gun ban to die...all logic, no spin, great piece. But he's off the American reservation the rest of the time...
