I just finished watching the all-star round table discussion with Brit Hume, Fred Barnes, Mort Kondracke, and Mara Liasson on Fox. No longer are they giving serious consideration to the possibility the Bush ANG documents are not fakes. Even Liasson more or less admitted there was no chance they were real. She also admitted the burden of proof was on the people making the allegation, and that this had "blown-up" in the face of the Bush-haters.
This segment was notable in that this is the first time I've seen the issue treated without the seemingly-obligatory agnosticism we've been seeing. They said they were fake and took CBS to task. Kudos to Brit Hume for pointing out this had virtually nothing to do with Bush showing up in Alabama, but contained new allegations about favorable treatment and pressure from higher-ups that have no substantiation if the documents are fake. Liasson grudgingly agreed.
In fact, to paraphrase a former Texas governor, she looked like she realized there was nothing she could do about it, so ... you know the rest.
Mara plays to her audience. When I heard her report on NPR 2 days after the 60M2 story, she just parroted Rather's line, totally ignoring any forgery controversy whatsoever. She can still be a snake.
Who was the guy with the short gray hair who mentioned Free Republic? I caught the tail end of what he was saying, but he nailed some points about the power of the internet.

Even if the MSM decides to ignore this, it's okay. People aren't stupid. They realize they've been lied to and don't like it. The discontent with the media is widespread and it is not confined to conservatives.
I never heard this quote from Ann before but it is spot on. Ann Coulter rocks!!! I have been saying this for at least a year. O'Reilly is so obsessed with the "fair and balanced" label that he completely throws common sense out the window.
No wonder he nailed it down.
Although Scarborough demanded Bush "come clean" and I almost turned it off, the panel was great...Fineman was disturbed that big media would lose credibility...The Talon News guy was great and said this just makes conservative bloggers go nuts when they see something affirming their belief that BM (AKA MSM) is biased..Zoelnik(ex ABC) also concerned that credibility would be lost.
I just saw Howard Fineman admit as much on Scarborough's show just now. He basically conceded that the new media is for real and it is a force to be reckoned with from now on.
He changed when he got on the radio.
People have differing impressions of Nixon. IMO, he wasn't among the best Presidents to serve this country, though I wouldn't 'demonize' him as many have. His greatest fault, imo, is that he allowed his insecurities to get the best of him and it snowballed out of Watergate. I actually feel sympathy for the man, I even feel sympathy for Clinton believe it or not. They were both very flawed men unable to overcome their personal weaknesses. It resulted in each having a dubious place in our history.
I was glad to hear Arnold reference Nixon. Not only did it drive the Left insane, but it removed him from the closet. He had some valuable imputs to this nation, among his less than stellar record on other fronts. We should acknowledge the good of the man among the bad. It isn't to excuse his actions, but to honestly reflect on his record. He won Two elections for our party, the people chose him twice. That isn't without merit.
Also, unlike Gore, Nixon had the grace to concede defeat in a disputed election for the good of our country. People may say as they will about Nixon, but he had cause to question the election with Kennedy and didn't. He spared our country the havoc the 2000 Florida recount caused. I think that his greatest achievement no matter what else followed.
Why Rush is using Nixon? Mostly because it drives the Left insane. Rather in particular would hate the association to Nixon. And, it is appropriate to a degree. Nixon didn't orchestrate the events of Watergate, but he covered it up. Rather, I think, had a more active role in the fradulent documents that makes this worse than Watergate, but he too seeks to cover it up.
Courage.
He did brake the law but not break it.
He was a victim of the media and the Democratic majorities in the Senate and House. To our everlasting shame the usual RINO's helped with the kill.
I'm glad you admire the Gipper as I do, but he hung on under the same endless attacks.
The point is Nixon did not forge documents, quite the opposite. His enemies had all the originals plus the tape. A comparison to Rather tells the Democrats, 'no problem, he's no worse than Nixon' which muddies the water and is a stupid thing to say.

They fell in love with this story years ago and WHO provided the convenient corroborating "new" documents is the mystery....
It's about time....we get too watch MSM...blowing up in their own faces...their lies are finally catching up with them. PTL...

I had to laugh like hell when a few years later I read a woman was convicted of a crime. At that time the prosecutor wanted to also indict her for perjury because she claimed she was innocent when in fact she was found guilty.

I don't know what Rush said, but it is true that Rather was a leader of the Nixon-haters club, and gloated when Nixon was brought down. The poetic justice is that Rather is now in much the same position Nixon found himself in after the Watergate hearings revealed the existence of the Oval Office tapes. Difference is, Rather deserves what he's getting.

I don't know about Wallace. Sometimes he does a good job, other times he seems to take the easy way out. I guess time will tell. Maybe he needs to hit his stride. I've seen McLaughlin sporadically over the years. I just don't seem to appreciate his style.
i don't think so... he was there on Thursday or Friday, i believe... also i don't watch FOX News on Sundays, and i see Juan Williams occasionally on Brit Hume's Special Report...
