He, what's billO doing on the air at THAT time.

Its supposed to be the BIG STORY with JOHN GIBSON.

Is billO substituting?

Or did billO lose his coveted primetime slot?

The problems with the dim's on this is they don't know shiltz from schinola on the military other than they hate them badly.

They get everything military related wrong and everything gun related wrong because they are stupid and too lazy to do the research to get themselves informed..

O'Reilly tries to be all things to all people.

You nailed it. And beyond that, if you'll notice he can't handle anything that requires him to examine and sort through a lot of details. His attention span is too short for that, it seems. I think that was another problem he had with the Swifties. Too many details to sort through to discern the truth.

Well all of this is so insane and outrageous, that I'd have
to guess Kerry is SOOOOOOOO FAR BEHIND in the really-expensive
'daily polls' that the two campaigns take, (and we never see)
that they had to release their scorched-earth
Clinton Slime Machine NOW!

Normally they'd wait until 10 days before the election, but
Kerry will be flat-lined in the polls by then at the rate
he is going.

Kerry better stop payment on the check for the last round of ads. If the advertiser was smart, he cashed it 5 minutes after he got it and got a good laugh.

Do you realize the definitions you posted for "Active Duty" are from guidance concerning eligiblity for Serviceman's Group Life Insurance (SGLI). They are not official DoD definitions and are relevent only to SGLI.

Hmmm - 120 days
Isn't that about 4 months.
How long was Kerry's Viet Nam tour?
Oh, right - 4 months.

I agree with you...this happens in the Navy alot also, a reserve member temporally becomes an active Duty member to attend school. When I was an Instructor, I had several students in my SONAR schools who became active duty to attend them.

Why is this document, and yes, it appears to be legit, citing (paragraph 41-7a, AFM 35-3) at the bottom?

The democrat press release (April 27, 2004) and Dan Rather's forger (August 1972) claims that AFM 35-12 and AFM 35-13 are the right manual.

Oh. Right.

The forger copied the wrong democratic document wrong.

I'm confused on the dates. Does this plug up any of the holes in the AWOL charge ??

Or does it just refute the charge he was never in the active duty airforce like he claimed ?

Its hard to keep up with...

I haven't read all the posts, but as a former ARNG Cmdr. they are correct about W not being in the Active USAF. NGs are sent Active Duty Training, their prefexis remain NG. We use to tell the NG recruits that they could become regular Army after their NG service if there was a national call up. The reasoning was that they never actually served in the Army. Their 6 years of service still left them open to a recall. (or the draft at that time)

Just heard on Hugh Hewitt Kerry talking about how simple it was to set a date to bail out of Vietnam. Flash forward 30 years and he's asking for and throwing around dates for troop withdrawals.

Sounds like the same thinking (or lack thereof) to me...

120 days is just one of his periods of active duty. He must have gone on active duty for UPT (undergrad pilot training).

This 26 year old campaign brochure listing service in the Air Force is in error, just like the statement that says he finished his Harvard MBA before entering the Guard. That is the best way to address it, as an error made by campaign staff. Kerry should be understanding how this happens, his staff listed him as the co-chair for the Senate Intelligence Committee on their website. One small problem, that was Bob Kerrey.

If the Bush campaign wants defend the story of the President being in the Air Force (unwise in my opinion) they can detail his active duty time for UPT at Moody AFB. I don't think that is a wise idea since your component doesn't change just because you went to school.

That FORM 180 the Kerry people don't want to talk about has a third page that tells you where your military records are located.

Air Force stuff is at the top. In pertinent part it includes this under "current status of service member" ~ TO WIT: "Reserve, retired reserve in nonpay status, current National Guard officers not on active duty in the Air Force, or National Guard released from active duty in the Air Force", as well as "Active (including National Guard on active duty in the Air Force), TDRL, or general officers retired with pay".

Apparantly none of the Democratic Party spinmeisters have bothered to check out the way Department of Defense looks at these arrangements before throwing away perfectly good campaign dollars on erroneous material concerning "W"'s status vis a vis the Air Force!

Just sign that FORM 180 John; you'll feel better about it, and you might get some of those smarmy campaign aids to read it before they get in real trouble.

Sure, but the AFOU award is what is really relevant. He was active duty when he recieved the ribon. I'm pretty sure that if he was not active duty during the award period he would not have rated the medal. One of the major sticking points that the left is trying to make is that he was wearing a medal he was not entitled to wear. Randolph AFMPC has confirmed he was awarded the medal, so he was active duty during that period.
