Woman arrested for driving with kids in the trunk

Police arrest an Indianapolis woman after she openly told them three children were riding in the trunk of her car.

It started with a 9-1-1 call from 21st and Post Road around 1:30 Saturday afternoon. The caller said she'd just seen a woman put three small children in the trunk of a car and close it.

The driver went south on Post Road and police stopped her at 10th and Post. Inside,45-year-old Linda Crenshaw and six children. Two of the children were in the front seat, four others in the back seat

The officer asks her is she has kids in the trunk of her car and she said she did.

Two boys and a girl, ages six, seven and eight were quickly removed.

"She was on the way to take them to a movie or take them to miniature golf and she wanted to do it in one trip instead of two," said Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Lt. JIm Cleek.

Police say what was intended as a day of fun could have ended far differently.

"It was an extremely dangerous situation for all the kids, including the ones unrestrained in the passenger compartment. If you get in an accident it would have been catastrophic," said Cleek.

Linda Crenshaw faces charges of operating a motorized vehicle while intoxicated , three counts of child neglect and six other tickets because none of the kids, who ranged in age from 12-to-4, had seat belts or were in booster seats.

Reminds me of college days.

I used to ride in the back of our station wagon under the back seat. I used to ride in the back of our station wagon with all the seats down. I think I even rode in the trunk of my father's Toyota Corolla back when they were new to the US. Those were the days . . .

I know a police officer, now chief of a small force, that was having a problem with his taillights blinking off so he had his daughter ride in the trunk and jiggle the wires. Somebody saw it and called it in as a kidnapping.

Does this really shock anyone? I mean, in a society that seems to view unborn babies as parasites, viewing children as luggage is something of an improvement.

I can't believe some people have the title of "parent". Oh and this women will loose her kids to CPS/state and than they will try and reabilitate her and than give her those kids back. What a waist!

I can remember a few trips with my kids years ago...that if the trunk had not been full of suitcases their little behinds would have been in there.

She had nine kids 4-12 in the car, including some of the same age. While it's not *impossible* they were all hers, it seems improbable. Someone was letting this woman drive around drunk with their kids in her trunk.
