The New York Times, which was affectionately referred to as the Grey Lady, has died after a long illness. The paper, begun in 1851, was 153.
The world was notified on the Internet over two months ago on numerous blogs, talk radio, and websites such as the Drudge Report, as well as on 24-hour cable news outlets such as CSPAN and FOX News. ... The paper learned of its illness in May when it chose to ignore a press conference given by a group called the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (a/k/a the "Swifties"), which had challenged the Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerrys claims in regard to his military service in Vietnam and his anti-Vietnam War activism that followed.

It died decades ago but was in a zombie like state.
Remove the feeding tube.
You're RIGHT,The Old Gray Lady has been moldering in the grave for DECADES!!!
The paper is survived by its siblings, The Washington Post, the L.A. Times, and the USA Today. Also survived by (but in poor health) cousins ABC, CNN, and PBS. Unable to attend, due to being on life support, are cousins MSNBC, CNBC, and CBS. Send all contributions in memoriam to the "Amusing Ourselves To Death" Fund.
If this puppy is dead, why are they still charging my account $51 a month to get their rag? (BTW, I get it for the crossword's.)
It was just that--the way they handled the Swiftees--that made me finally cancel my subscription a few weeks ago. When the guy on the phone asked me why? I told him that if I wanted to know what the DNC thought about any issue, I would go to their website since it's free. He laughed.
ewwwwww!! I would cancel that $51 a month in a minute. Why support the enemy in order to solve crosswords??!! Go somewhere else for your entertainment.
The gray lady died a long time ago. they are talking about the death of the toothless prostitute that took her place.
I agree, try the local book store, they have a whole rack of them.
They have obviously decided to carve out that particular niche of not insignificant size, comprised of info seekers who don't give a hoot about accuracy or bias, as a matter of fact this particular market NEEDS someone to lie to them desperately, as the truth is simply too demoralizing.
If the NYT can succeed in DOMINATING this niche, then its strategy can be a very viable one financially. Isn't it obvious that the communist rag doesn't care about conservative readership?
The more bad news which events provide for the left, the more they'll need their NEW YORK TIMES.
The guy that wrote this obviously never heard of Walter Duranty.
I humbly suggest getting a book of crosswords and pulling the plug on this monster. Only by hurting their bottom line will they listen.
The internet is the newspaper of record.
What a shame! Wrap her in the Wall Street Journal and stuff her in a hole. Plant a tree over her grave and maybe something useful will come of her yet.
Cause of death was a hereditary disease that is said to afflict other members of its close family.
Bump.
