Rather Says Will No Longer Address Charges of 'Professional Rumor Mill'

September 12, 2004, 21:39:50 EDT Dan Rather was quoted in the New Zealand Herald as saying that there was no use debating the authenticity of his documents which he claims are proof that George W. Bush committed any number of unethical acts while in the National Guard. "Until someone shows me definitive proof that they are not [authentic], I don't see any reason to carry on a conversation with the professional rumour mill."

Burden of proof is on YOU commie POS Blather! And I think we've proven them fake enough for any civil court in the country.

From the original article posted at comment #25:
"Until someone shows me definitive proof that they are not [authentic], I don't see any reason to carry on a conversation with the professional rumour mill," presenter Dan Rather declared.
At least they have quit calling him a "reporter." Hmmm... Dan Blather of CBS is actually a PBS*.

*Presenter of Bull Squeeze.

I do believe that FCC complaints are in order.
we can spread the petion around blogophere like wild fire.

What is most galling to Rather is that the internet is growing each day in influence in this country.

The internet is just the vehicle - what really bothers him is that the American people can now actually research and verify what they previously accepted unquestioningly. An educated public is the dishonest newsman's worst enemy.

...Not that that stops them from trying. Virtually every news show this morning opened with footage of fully-automatic gunfire in stories about the expired gun ban. Of course the ban had nothing to do with automatic weapons - but they've probably convinced half the public that they'll die in a hail of gunfire before the end of the week - and that it's Bush's fault.

Eventually a responsible adult will have to admit what is obvious to most of us. The longer CBS waits, the less credibility they will have. Not that they had much to begin with.

A French chick named Marie Antoinette also had this attitude, and look what happened to her.

I guess it's time for Dan to ask Les Moonves to pray with him...

Kind of like when he used to go out to the beach and endure rain and 15 mile an hour winds

I remember Gunga Dan on the floor of the 1968 Democrat Convention. Walter Crankcase in the booth was pretending high dudgeon about Gunga's treatment on the floor.

But I also seem to remember Gunga's reporting from Viet Nam. I certainly remember his greeting the Americans as they came ashore in Somolia. And interviewing Castro. And interviewing Saddam Hussein (barf). Gunga was the obsequious Gung Ho at that point.

Hey Gunga Ho, the memos have been proven to be fakes beyond any reasonable doubt. Hide if you want to. We ain't gonna shut up. And you might consider joining the modern age. We know you are mad at George W's daddy, but your temper tantrum then doesn't excuse your attempted blitzkreig on W now.

In fact, the controversy is beside the point. Poll after poll has shown that voters are concerned about terrorism, war in Iraq and the economy...

While this is true WRT the election results, the really important point in this specific conflict is the exposure of the Fifth Column within the Fourth Estate. IOW the enemy within.

IMO they are a greater danger to us long term than the IslamoNazis. If they are exposed, they are neutralized because only a very small percentage of Americans are as hard core leftist as the MSM.

The rest of them seem to understand that and are backing away from this tarbaby as fast as they can. Dan just can't let go. He's either too stupid to get it or he's personally involved somehow IMO. (I mean involved in the creation of the docs or protecting someone who was--something beyond simply publicizing them.)

Long live the New Media.

Free Republic, Talk radio and Fox News... it doesn't get any better than that. They report, we decide.

John Kerry's highlighting of his 1969 heroics in Vietnam has, if anything, backfired, provoking a highly effective campaign of TV ads by pro-Bush veterans, accusing him of lying over how he obtained some of his medals.

I guess the Kiwis don't get it either. The swiftees are anti-Kerry, not pro-Bush.

Once again Dan makes the mistake of thinking he can express his arrogance and not be discovered.

Surely he thought that no one would ever run across his comments in a New Zealand paper and copy them to an email and that he can run (his mouth) but not hide his Old Media arrogance.

Isn't Bob Scheiffer of CBS News one of the moderators selected for the Presidential Debates?

Shouldn't the Commission on Presidential Debates hear about our displeasure with CBS and their Attempts to make up "news"

I had the feeling all day yesterday that this was how Dan would handle it. We won't hear another word from CBS.

Let's see if the other networks let him get away with it.

That won't stop me from FAXing the President of CBS News, Andrew Heyward, at:

Andrew Heyward -- CBS News
Title: President
Department: Headquarters
Phone: (212) 975-4321
Fax: (212) 975-1893

This Gun ban (C)BS is another example of media generated liberal hysteria.
One only needs to look across the border to see how well gun control works. it costs the Can taxpayers a billion dollars, and still the criminal element refuses to rush out and register their guns.

I have Walter's job.
