I wrote this and posted it on the day G.W. landed on the Lincoln.
Will post it now for Family and Friends of the Z Man. God bless.

HONOR AT SEA

today, a day in history
our leader took to air
the President of our country
like none before would dare

to welcome home returning troops
upon the deck he slam
with military honors on
the bosom of Abraham

our troops swarmed all around him
like sailors drunk on grog
the great ships captain wrote with pride
into the Lincoln's log

"today our ship was honored
all men will mark this day
when our beloved President
on this first day of May

landed on or flight deck
where heroes come and go
to thank us for our service
and let the world know

what freedom means to Americans
what bloodshed and what tears
and what he said to us today
we will honor through the years

though great men, rare, do come and go
as fate would us allow
we thank the Lord above for this
great man who leads us now."
                           F.H.

Sadly deaths like this occur daily. It is part of Military life where dangerous situations are the norm. God Bless you sir, and may your family find peace in the knowledge that you gave your life doing your DUTY.

And the 'rats call Bush a "coward" for flying the F-102, which was 3 times more dangerous (accidents per hour) than today's jets.

The left as a whole has almost no understanding whatsoever of the military and how they manage to accomplish the truly outstanding job they do! If they had any knowledge of military life and traditions, not to mention PRIDE, they would have known instantly that the recently 'discovered' TANG memo regarding GWB's service would never stand up under even moderate scrutiny! I love it!

This pilot is a testimoninal. Whether you fly combat or not, strapping into military aircraft is serious business. George W. Bush had the same courage flying in the ANG. God Bless this naval aviator.

Even when they are training, and not in combat.

A fact lost in the DNC and old media when they characterize President Bush's NG service as cowardice.

The"Mission Accomplished"banner referred to the fact that The USS Abraham Lincoln was returning from her deployment when she was called back to extend that deployment to the LONGEST EVER for a US NUCLEAR AIRCRAFT CARRIER!

Bump.

Worth repeating:

The crew on the aircraft carrier, not Bush or his staff, decided to put up the controversial "Mission Accomplished" banner that hung behind the president during his speech, Scott Zellem told his brother Ed. Even though the war in Iraq was still raging, the USS Abraham Lincoln was headed home, and for the men and women on board, the ship's mission was accomplished.

Baker said that the ship's crewmembers did not see the event as a political stunt.

Scott, "Zeus" Zellem was a high school class mate of mine, and always a class act. I heard about his death a few weeks back. Our hometown newspaper account is here.

Honor Lt. Cmdr. Scott Zellem by Remembering that Freedom is his gift to us!

To his Friends and Family:

“I pray that our Heavenly Father
may assuage the anguish of your bereavement,
and leave you only the cherished memory of the
loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours,
to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom.”
-- Abraham Lincoln, November 1864
