I like some of the fake chicken patties and other items made from soy. They should have fed them something that induced projectile vomiting and stomach cramps.

Soy is full of phytoestorgens.
Some speculate that this could have a feminizing effect on men.
This might explain why male liberal vegetarian types are such whiny girly-men.

And people call NYC liberal. During the WTO in Seattle the major personally served them pizza.

I don't see the problem with the soy.
1. It is food.
2. It is a food product that is acceptable to all religious groups as well as vegetarians.
3. It is economical so that the PD stays within their budget while feeding large amount of inmates.
4. It might provide some an incentive to not get arrested again.

I thought the whole point of protesting was to be a martyr for 'the cause' when 'the man' came 'down on you'
They're complaining about the food?
"What's this?! No chutney!? Get me a lawyer!"

HOUSTON CHRONICLE Sunday August 17, 2003
Two years after conviction, VitaPro saga continues By KRISTEN HAYS Associated Press Writer © 2003 The Associated Press
Since getting convicted two years ago of running an illegal kickback scheme in the mid-1990s, a former Texas prisons chief has enjoyed vacations and the president of a Canadian meat substitute company continues to reside in the Bahamas.
Neither James A. "Andy" Collins or Yank Barry have been sentenced, and neither their attorneys or prosecutors have any idea when U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes will put that final stamp on their case.
Collins, of Austin, was found guilty Aug. 20, 2001 of taking at least $20,000 from Montreal-based VitaPro Foods Inc. in exchange for pushing through a five-year, $33.7 million contract to distribute a soy-based granular substance to Texas inmates to cut food costs.
VitaPro president Yank Barry was convicted of the same charges _ bribery, fraud, money laundering and conspiracy _ for paying the bribes.

I thought this was kind of funny. You're judgment is impeccable, you've earned your wings, Freeper Second Class M/C!

I think feeding them MRE's would be a good solution too. They'd learn what our soldiers sometimes have to eat, plus the high-cal crackers and bread would stop them up so bad the jail bathroom would be a form of quasi-torture.

Soy?!?! Have they no heart???
However, anyone want to bet that the protestors in Boston got food in their cages? I'd give you lousy odds on that.
