Spread the word... a non-vote is a vote for desecration of the flag.

Attach a rider that threatens their pork or legally secures something they hate. Don't just threaten to kick them in the 'nads and then give them an option - cut them off at the knees and drive them into the ground with a baseball bat.

Come on, you guys know better than to support this amendment. If someone owns a flag and decides to burn it, that's his decision. Even Zell Miller quoted a poem about soldiers who defend others' rights to burn the flag at the RNC Convention.

The Constitution is about limiting government power, not about restraining the American people.

The ComPost is just trying to suggest that the Republicans are up to their old Machiavellian ways, using the flag issue for political purposes. The way the senate is tied up by the Democrats, this will never come to a vote before the election.

Yeah, get the gov't off our backs. If we want to pull a baby out of the womb, except for the head, stick a Dremel tool into its brain and spin it out like an egg yolk, yank it out the rest of the way, wrap the tiny corpse in a flag, pour gasoline over it, and set the whole mess on fire in the parking lot, that's our own gosh darned business.

And we need hate speech legislation to prohibit telling anyone that it's wrong.
George W. Bush will win reelection by a margin of at least ten per cent.

For some Republicans it is the perfect political storm: a Senate vote on a constitutional amendment to protect the U.S. flag that would put Democratic presidential nominee John F. Kerry, running mate John Edwards and Minority Leader Thomas A. Daschle on the spot just a few weeks before the Nov. 2 elections.

Put a "health care for seniors" rider on it. That'll make 'em implode.

Proper disposal of worn-out flags:

Before a flag can be burned, it must first be cut into separate pieces. The field of blue must first be cut from the stripes. Then, the stripes must be cut into strips.

To properly burn the flag. During the ceremony, the stripes are burned first, and then the field of blue. The ashes are buried.

I will never support an Amendment to ban flag burning.

That said, I will risk jail to beat the hell out of any who tries to burn one around me, and take my chances with a Texas jury.

Some group should start a public show where every month or so they draw 1 foreign flag at random and a UN flag and burn them. Kerry et al would be flooding D.C. with anti-burning bills. The UN would crap all over itself. Be a hoot.

I don't think burning the flag should be illegal--after all, it IS a free country. I instead propose a law that anyone convicted of burning the flag, having shown their contempt for this country, have their citizenship withdrawn and be deported to France. That way, they can complain about the USA all they want without threat of consequences.

Desecrating our flag is very much like desecrating our Constitution. It's a way of dishonoring the men who've died for their freedom, not freedom to show betrayal against our country, but all of the freedoms we have from supporting our country. . Flag desecrators should be punished. And many who call themselves supporters of the Constitution are nothing of the kind. They lie about our Constitution in efforts to keep us from exercising our Constitional rights to return to some of the intentions of our founders and to usher us into social anarchy. They wish to weaken our country.

Without reverence for America and her Flag, then the Constitution and Bill of Rights are just a bunch of words on paper. The Flag isn't just a chunk of material that falls within the First Amendment, it is inherent to what GIVES us the First Amendment.

I support an Amendment against Flag burning.

Ok, how about a compromise. Instead of banning flag burning, how about legalizing shooting of flag burners. Now that we can all have "assault weapons" it just makes sense.
