NEW YORK (AP) - It certainly can't be a bad thing for a man with a political talk show called "Hardball" to be nearly challenged to a duel by a U.S. senator. MSNBC has quickly moved to take advantage of Sen. Zell Miller's combative GOP convention interview with Chris Matthews, featuring it in advertisements. It was Matthews' second eye-popping exchange with a guest in a month.
Matthews is hot right now, and not just under the collar.
"Hardball" and parts of Matthews' Republican convention coverage gave his network some surprising ratings victories over CNN. The former print reporter whose volume and energy switches never seem off may just be the man to lead MSNBC out of the wilderness.

However, in his defense, he doesn't purport to be a journalist. Like Rush Limbaugh, he is a political talk show host.
"Unfortunately there are several applications that I like that don't have a Linux version or viable alternative, so I do wind up using Windows XP most of the time."
Fortunately, over 90% of the work I do on a computer can be done on linux. I use SuSE 9.0 Pro. I use windows sparingly and go days without rebooting. Now that I am getting used to Open Office, windows is mostly for playing movies, games, and newsletters.

Should read:
"Matthews dodged the answer. So Malkin answered it again. And again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again".
was that a press release from MSNBC or an actual AP article?
Matthews' ratings will go up I'm sure.
Though it's a long way from 0.3 to respectable cable ratings. Matthews will be back to an alsoran on Nov. 3rd.
In fact, you WERE clear. My apologies, I see your point.
Although not totally germane, I am sure that you would
agree that the distinction between Limbaugh and Matthews
is that Limbaugh doesn't pretend to be neutral, Matthews
does. Maybe it is because of the nature of the mediums
they each serve.
I wish that all 'journalists' could be immediately fired and replaced with people who wish to be 'reporters'. Years ago they were called 'reporters'. Just give me the friggin' news...then shut up. I don't need 'journalists' giving me their opinions.
I don't think it's a good idea for Chris Matthews (or David Bauder, or whatever name he might be using) to go on the road. When CM/DB gets from behind a desk, the gut hanging over his belt ruins every camera angle.
Wow -- I'm hearing echoes of the past: Geraldo. Remember him? Seems to me, MSNBC, is creating a newer Geraldo "figure": Chris Matthews.
Considering the underhanded methods Matthews used in that interview, prehaps his show should be called Spitball.
That's a good one.
