Alabama woman says she lost job for sporting Kerry sticker on car

MOULTON — Lynne Gobbell never imagined the cost of a John Kerry-John Edwards bumper sticker could run so high.

DAILY Photo by Clyde Stancil Lynne Gobbell said her boss fired her last week because of the Kerry-Edwards campaign sticker on the back of her car. Gobbell of Moulton didn't pay a cent for the sticker that she proudly displays on the rear windshield of her Chevrolet Lumina, but said it cost her job at a local factory after it angered her boss, Phil Gaddis.

Gaddis, a Decatur bankruptcy attorney, owns Enviromate, a cellulose insulation company in Moulton.

Gaddis did not return phone calls from THE DAILY about the alleged Thursday firing.

Gobbell said she consulted a lawyer, but then changed her mind about going to see him. She said she has cried about the incident and must do without income for three weeks while the state unemployment commission decides if she is eligible for compensation.

Why not? I'm sure that with 280 million people in this country, it's bound to happen to someone. I'm sure it's happened to Bush supporters, too.

Personally, I think it sucks, but I don't think it belongs in the courts. That would just open a can of worms. Whoopi Goldberg would go to court and sue Slim Fast. Where do you draw the line?

It is *legal* to discriminate based upon political affiliation.

She may have been fired over the bumper sticker...

She stopped by the John Kerry campaign headquarters to pick up the sticker and complain about her boss's pro-Bush flyer. Her brief visit to HQ ran over, and she showed up at the office late.

Chronically late, she was fired.

That's how the sticker got her fired. ;-) *wink*

Hope you don't mind if I post more of the article. Apparently she also objected to a "flyer" that her boss had included in her paycheck. Here's the text of the flyer:

"Just so you will know, because of the Bush tax (cut):
