DNC TO LAUNCH FRESH ATTACK ON BUSH GUARD DUTY:  WILL RAISE QUESTIONS ABOUT 1978 CAMPAIGN LIT

**Exclusive**

Faster than a CBS eye can blink, dogged Dems are set to take to the airwaves anew hoping to keep questions about President Bush's National Guard duty in play, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Candidate Kerry apparently has rejected former President Clinton's advice not to get further locked in a 2004 Vietnam quagmire.

"George W. Bush's campaign literature claimed that he 'served in the U.S. Air Force.' The only problem? He didn't,"  slams a new DNC press release set for distribution.

Dems will attempt to increase the heat on Bush ahead of his planned Tuesday address before The National Guard Association gathering in Las Vegas.

In 2000, Bush opened his National Guard Association speech: "General, I am reporting for duty."

MORE

Kerry plans to speak to the group on Thursday, but he personally hold back questioning Bush's service, sources explain.

The coordinated nationwide effort this week by the DNC has been code-named "Project Fortunate Son."

"George Bush has a clear pattern of lying about his military service," DNC Communications Director Jano Cabrera blasts in the new release. "From 1978 to the present day, George Bush has refused to tell voters the truth about his service. It's time for the President to come clean."

"Flyers distributed to Texas voters during Bush's failed Congressional race say 'he served in the U.S. Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard.' But according to Air Force officials, Air National Guardsmen are not counted as members of the active-duty Air Force."

Bush, like every active, reserve, and guard line Air Force officer, spent six to twelve weeks in officer training school in temporary active duty status. If he went to the active duty's office training school he was assigned as a member of an active duty unit, at an active duty base. Some Air National Guard officer candidates are trained at their own school, called the Adademy of Military Science.

Bush, like every active, reserve, and guard Air Force pilot, spent one year on a permanent change of station (PCS) active duty assigment to pilot training. During that time, Bush was on active duty status assigned as a member of an active duty unit, at an active duty base (in Bush's case Moody AFB Georgia). Because this was an active duty, permanent change of station assignment, the Air Force would have paid to move Bush and his household goods to the training base. If Bush was married at the time (he was not), he would be eligible for on-base family housing, the same as other active duty members. After his training was complete, as it was a PCS move back to his guard unit, the Air Force would pay for his move back. He then would be discharged from the active duty, and return to a reserve status.

Bush, like every active, reserve, and guard Air Force pilot, spent several weeks in a temporary duty status (TDY) active duty assigment to Air Force land and water survival training. During that time, Bush was on active duty status assigned as a member of an active duty unit, at an active duty base.

Bush, may have spent several weeks to several months in a temporary duty status (TDY) active duty assigment for training in his particular aircraft (F102) and mission. During that time, Bush was on active duty status, probably assigned as a member of an active duty unit at an active duty base.

These morons at the DNC are clueless. This will get thrown back to them if Bush produces his training report from pilot training. The training report for a PCS training assignment suffices for an Officer Effectivenes Report (OER) during that period, and as such is an official part of one's personnel record.

It is time to nail Kerry on this. He (via his proxy, the DNC) is attacking the honorable service of veterans, just like he did in 1971.

I just got through talking to Pukin Dog and he says, "it is true Bush would have trained (basic and flight school) with the USAF before being asigned to fly with the ANG".

Since Pukin Dog is a former F-14 pilot with the Navy, I would suspect he would know much more than the girlie-men at the DNC.

Just look at the service number on all documents related to his service. Starts off "AF".

Ends the debate right there.

It really bothers me when Kerry, and the other democrats who run their mouths off, put down the reservists.

I served in the reserves, in fact I spent 25 years in the reserves, and did 7 tours. that's more than alot of regulars do. It was a full time job as far as I was concerned, although when I was a kid and joined, I never intended it to be. After a few years service and rank building, I wound up being in charge of a medical unit, so it became full time work.

Thank you for the insight:

" There were a limited number of fighters available in any UPT CLASS. Top USAF graduates get their first choice (usually fighters) then you get heavies, bombers, etc. Some guys just were not qualified "fighter pilot" material and could not even put in for a fighter."

So Bush was the "cream of the crop" a regular "top gun" sort of guy, and assigned to fighters.

I read he completed over 300 hours.

Also those fighter planes were dubbed "widdow makers" as were very twitchy to fly.

It would be nice to see him re-qualifty and take one for a spin.

~No chance of matching her since she typed 180 wpm on a manual typewriter. ~

I could type 100 wpm on an electric... I find your claim of someone being able to type 180 wpm on a manual not quite believeable. Sorry.

"How is this different from Senator Sleazeball always speakng about "volunteering" for the Navy. He has *never* said that it was actually the Naval RESERVE? That needs to be corrected.

And I read he asked for and got FOUR deferments and was turned down on the 5th request (he wanted to study in France ... :-) .... so eventually joined the navy reserve.

Is a Corporal equivalent to a 1st LT....? as I seem to remember about a Corporal who also had delusions beyond his station.

This is most AWESOME!

I have made sure I saved these statements.

However, although it might have been in the WashPost, I do believe the story quoted from the magazine articles.

Not only that, the truth of kerry's *service* is that he put time on the what was it, Grady? Missle friggat, far removed from any action, except 2 weeks off the coast, but still not near any action, then he sailed back home.

he counts that as a "tour" in Veitnam. Then, he put in for the swift boats because at the time, they were not involved in the delta rivers. He thought it was the safest place to be. Unfortunately for kerry, they were re-assigned and he found himself where he did not want to be.

But, as we know, he collected Purps fast and got out as fast as he could, making up a story how he was a "war hero" in the proccess.
According to his congressional testamony, and his book, he hardly spent time on the swift boat, he was always in seol, advising generals, fighting in trenchs with marines, burning villages, making mock assaults on the enemy for observing generals. All this within 4 months.

No. It didn't matter where Bush finished in his UPT class, he came with the slot for the 102, courtesy of his Guard slot. All he had to do was make sure that he didn't wash out. The Title 10 guys did not compete with the regular USAF guys.

That was one thing that we all envied about the Title 10 guys (of which Bush was one)(yes, they were USAF), they knew what plane they were getting.

Those of us regular USAF guys were going to get the plane according to our rank in class, and the type that had been allotted to our base. In my 30 year career, I only flew single engine, single seat fighters.

If that is true, then Home Depot may be receptive to the plea. After all, they will want honorable truth, not propoganda, emanating from the same station carrying their ads.

They're just one of the names on the list. I would suggest sending a letter to all of the sponsors (or as many as you have time for). If they get enough public feedback, they may pressure CBS into getting its act together.

You and I may not watch CBS, but millions of ill-informed Americans do, and this is just a way we can make a difference.

Today on CSPAN2 ONeil said a fellow swift officer was the one putting kerry back to bed during the sleepwalking episodes. Oneil identified him as a fellow swift officer.

Kerry's combat sleepwalking is an issue for a presidential candidate. Does he still sleepwalk? Did he coneal the problem from his superiors? Would the problem have removed him from combat or worse, excluded him from combat and combat medals?

These are very valid questions.

Kerry MUST release his military records!

Yes! he MUST release them, and we have to put more pressure on him to do so. The problem is, MSM wouldn't put any pressure on him to do so.
Bush's files have been picked through, and now they are forging things because they can't find anything on the guy.

The Swifties have been trying their darndest to make him open them as well. Oneil even told kerry to "go ahead, sue me". That's one way O' Neil can get them opened up.

Kerry can't despute any charge the Swifties make without opening those files. All the MSM have done is try sweep the Swifties under the rug.
