AP Uses Fake SEAL to Back Kerry, Slam Bush

Authentic or not, Bush memos no big deal to retired guardsmen

U.S. Servicemen React to Bush Guard Memos (spreading the lie)

Allegations of suspect conduct during the Vietnam war also have been leveled at John Kerry, who won three Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star in Vietnam.

A group sponsoring television ads challenging his wartime record contends Kerry's own gunfire caused the wound that brought his first Purple Heart. Navy records and other veterans do not support the charge.

Ahmad Majied of Albany (GA) says the latest allegations about Bush's military record are more troubling to him than allegations about service honors leveled at Democratic challenger Kerry.

Majied, a Democrat from Albany who served 30 years in the Navy, including five years as a SEAL in Vietnam, said the memos support his belief that Bush was a "playboy" during his service years.

"He had enough money to get what he wanted," Majied said. "I think his main concern was not to go to Southeast Asia. I bet he never dreamed it would come back to haunt him."

NOT A SEAL

Thanks for checking with us - we greatly appreciate your interest in upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams, and your search for the TRUTH. If the name you provided was "spelled accurately", we do NOT have a listing for anyone named "Majied" in our entire database of slightly more than 10,000 names. Unless he has undertaken the unlikely action of a full legal name change since his claimed service with the SEAL Teams, I can state conclusively that the man NEVER completed SEAL training, and thus he is not now, nor was he ever a Navy SEAL. While there are other training steps that must be completed on the path to becoming a SEAL, BUD/S training is the first and most vital, and that training course is totally unclassified. Without having first completed BUD/S training, a man cannot go on to become a SEAL. There are definitely secret SEAL missions, but despite anything the man might have said, there are NO secret SEALs. If you choose to confront the man regarding his fraudulent SEAL claims, please show him this email message and invite him to contact me - a real SEAL - directly by email with information that will support his claims. I'd enjoy hearing his stories first hand, but I've extended this offer to literally thousands of individuals over the last three years, and in all that time I've received only a scant handful of replies, so I don't really expect to hear from him either.

Again, please visit our web page www.authentiseal.org/realitycheck.htm for some very specific information related to the realities of SEAL training, SEAL duties, and the claims most often made by SEAL imposters.

Thank you again for your assistance in upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams.

Respectfully, Gregory Platt

. This is abuse and abuse of power pure and simple and I've reported it as such.

Reported it to whom?  The Ministry of Posturing?

Relax a bit. I am not saying anything about his political opinions. As I wrote earlier, "I think what we are trying to do is determine this man's validity. If he was a SEAL, and later changed his name, OK, that's his right."

Nobody is trying "to destroy him," but vets, and especially SEALs, don't like posers. (Obviously I am not and never have been a SEAL, nor have I played one on TV.)

How is attempting to check the validity of someone's self-proclaimed credentials an "abuse and abuse of power pure and simple?"

He has put himself in the public domain and is representing himself as authority based on his membership to a very exclusive military arm. That does not inoculate him from scrutiny, but rather creates the opportunity for such.

"This only took a couple of minutes time for "amateurs" on Free Republic to check out. The "professional" journalists at the AP must have been to busy to do this basic checking."

He was a REAL PROFESSIONAL Navy Seal. You're just an amateur seal, Travis. Get with the program, son. :) Hehe! Just kidding!

That was a good eye. I'm about to post an essay addressing just this very point. These liberals don't know how much of a diverse group of experts we have here. Do they?

He said that he was a retired Master Chief Petty Officer.

Of the Navy? No way.

Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy. The Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) is the senior enlisted person in the Navy. The MCPON serves as the senior enlisted leader of the Navy, and as an advisor to the Chief of Naval Operations and to the Chief of Naval Personnel in matters dealing with enlisted personnel and their families.

You sure you heard him right? There's only been a handful of MCPON's over the years. Here's a list. There's 10.

Can I assume that DR will be observed and documented like a school of piranha for any more egregious behavior for at least the next 54 days?

The only people I met that did five years in Nam were Vietnamese who lived there, excluding, of course, our POWs.

Fake injuries, fake memos, and now presumably fake Navy SEALS, this campaign isn't going as smoothly as Mr. Kerry and the media might have hoped.

He should be glad he has a well-heeled wife and a secure gig as a senator when this campaign falls through for him on Nov. 2.

I was considering a private mail with the guy's phone number to someone to check, when I find it has been posted multiple times already. He's gotten enough calls now that one poster complained he's not answering. Dozens of posts proclaim the guy a poser and there is NO evidence. No evidence and several are saying "email Drudge" "email every talk host".... This thread is a lynching, an embarassment and a frenzy. Without the guy's pre-Muslim name you got nothing. If he doesn't want to talk, you ain't gonna get anything. And there's no reason he should talk. He hasn't done anything. And I hope nobody outside sees this thread because it is everything our enemies say we are.

You're right, you'd think he would mention a name change.

Hopefully, the truth will come out. It usually does when folks here get involved. :)

He's not listed as MCPON. He gave his rank as MACM. Both are E-9. There are several othe E-9 master chief designations. MACM is going to be one per ship. There have obviously been hundreds.

Were you Neil or was I Neil? I forget.. :-)

Wrong!

AP is the source of the lie!

AP "Claims" this "five year Navy SEAL" is supporting Kerry, attacking Bush's records, implying Bush (who DID serve honorably in very dangerous fighter pilot position during the war!) chickened out and hid in the National Guard.

"WE" in FreeRepublic, are trying to find out if this "AP WITNESS" could have served 5 years in Vietnam as a Navy SEAL.

If not, then AP is lying. Again.

No, that part is not a problem.

I think he said he was "A" master chief petty officer, not "THE" Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (known as MCPON). There are LOTS of master chiefs. Most commands have several of them.

Yeah, but according to elfman, the guy says he retired a Master Chief Petty Officer. Guess I'm just not understanding the terms correctly.

The precursor of the SeALs have been around since when, late 40's, early 50's? When did BUD/S start?

Today's SEAL (Sea, Air, Land) teams trace their history to the first group of volunteers selected from the Naval Construction Battalions (SeaBees) in the spring of 1943. These volunteers were organized into special teams called Navy Combat Demolition Units (NCDUs). The units were tasked with reconnoitering and clearing beach obstacles for troops going ashore during amphibious landings, and evolved into Combat Swimmer Reconnaissance Units.

The NCDUs distinguished themselves during World War II in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. In 1947, the Navy organized its first underwater offensive strike units. During the Korean Conflict, these Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs) took part in the landing at Inchon as well as other missions including demolition raids on bridges and tunnels accessible from the water. They also conducted limited minesweeping operations in harbors and rivers.

During the 1960s, each branch of the armed forces formed its own counterinsurgency force. The Navy utilized UDT personnel to form separate units called SEAL teams. January 1962 marked the commissioning of SEAL Team ONE in the Pacific Fleet and SEAL Team TWO in the Atlantic Fleet. These teams were developed to conduct unconventional warfare, counter-guerilla warfare and clandestine operations in both blue and brown water environments.
