When this fake SEAL's claim of spending five years in Viet Nam was pointed out to me, I knew he couldn't be for real. SEALs deployed to VN for 6 month tours, so "five years in Viet Nam" seemed highly improbable. I knew lots of multiple tour "real deal Viet Nam SEALs" during my peacetime duty in the teams in the 1980s, and I never heard of this guy.
This only took a couple of minutes time for "amateurs" on Free Republic to check out. The "professional" journalists at the AP must have been to busy to do this basic checking.

Military ping. Please spread this to the military blogs etc.
It's nice to verify the "caliber" of the "veterans" who the MSM are using to back Kerry and slam Bush.

Wasn't this guy listed yesterday in the story as being a Republican?

Thanks Trav...I'd take your word as a SEAL anyday.
I couldn't help myself though, them using someone named Ahmad Majied to make this claim just seemed to be reaching for it to me...like they had to find a politically correct name of any kind to make their claim.
Thanks for checking it out and pointing out that it is another lie and sham.

Nice Travis. That's the thing about MSM "journalists" - they don't check stuff out, and they can't check stuff out as quickly and effectively as 100,000 Freepers. They are totally naked, vulnerable to being scammed at every turn. And they used to say, how can you trust the Internet - but now the tables have turned. The old media dinosaurs can't move without being swarmed under with the truth. I won't miss them.

Ok you got another story to go to Drudge, Hannity, Rush, Ingram, et. al...... We need to keep the heat on and let the world find out that FR is a force to be reckoned with.

Maybe "Ahmad" was a double-super-secret SEAL (DSS-SEAL). I've heard that they know how to do a Vulcan neck-pinch to disable enemies. Pretty cool!

Old media types will often justify their laziness by blaming the pressures of meeting deadlines. This will be old media's next line of defence: deadline anxiety syndrome.
"These bloggers in their pyjamas have an UNFAIR advantage!" they'll whine. "We have to fill so many column inches/airtime minutes in just hours! They can take all day to find all sorts of stuff because they have nothing better to do! We can't wait forever to get our calls returned! Editors are always cracking the whip!"

I've heard of names like Magid and Majid, but not Majied. I imagine the press isn't worried too much about accuracy "in the fog of war". They have enough trouble getting their facts straight when they cover weddings and funerals.
