AP Uses Fake SEAL to Back Kerry, Slam Bush

When this fake SEAL's claim of spending five years in Viet Nam was pointed out to me, I knew he couldn't be for real. SEALs deployed to VN for 6 month tours, so "five years in Viet Nam" seemed highly improbable. I knew lots of multiple tour "real deal Viet Nam SEALs" during my peacetime duty in the teams in the 1980s, and I never heard of this guy.

This only took a couple of minutes time for "amateurs" on Free Republic to check out. The "professional" journalists at the AP must have been to busy to do this basic checking.

I couldn't help myself though, them using someone named Ahmad Majied to make this claim just seemed to be reaching for it to me...like they had to find a politically correct name of any kind to make their claim.

Nice Travis. That's the thing about MSM "journalists" - they don't check stuff out, and they can't check stuff out as quickly and effectively as 100,000 Freepers. Old media types will often justify their laziness by blaming the pressures of meeting deadlines. This will be old media's next line of defence: deadline anxiety syndrome.

I've heard of names like Magid and Majid, but not Majied. I imagine the press isn't worried too much about accuracy "in the fog of war". They have enough trouble getting their facts straight when they cover weddings and funerals.
