The long awaited "American Film Renaissance" Film Festival is nearly over and it looks like the media has yet to publish a single review of any of the films.

If you have seen any of the films or have read a review of them, please post it here.

Conservatives around the nation would love to hear the reviews.

Is it time to begin writing the media, including FNC, asking them when they will begin reporting on the film festival?

It appears that many if not all will be available on DVD.

If you check out the festival website you will see a list of the films.

http://www.afrfilmfestival.com/films.html

When you check out the producers websites, many appear to be preparing to offer them on DVD. Some are seeking theatrical release, first.

Wasn't Michael Medved scheduled to attend? I suggest tuning in to his radio show tommorrow afternoon (even if you just catch him online).

He's not on in Houston yet but I suspect that he may be added to 700AM KSEV at some point. I'd like to see him replace Bill O'Reilly in the afternoon slot; as it stands I listen to Sean Hannity at that time.

I'm going to see "Michael Moore Hates America" tonight, and will let you know how it is. The Dallas Morning News ran an article, I think on Saturday's Overnight page of the Metro section, about the opening of the festival that included some quotes from Medved's speech. Maybe you can find it on the DMN website. I thought it was interesting that the writer referred to it as an "ultra-conservative" film festival. Funny, I don't recall any of the reviews of "Fahrenheit 9/11" in the MSM referring to Michael Moore as an "ultra-liberal." But then, there's no such thing. Ultra-liberals are just good, correct-thinking, mainstream Americans, right?...

I listen to Medved online at KSKY which is a Dallas station. He was broadcasting from there on Friday.

Thanks - I didn't know there were going to be so many films! And there's one about Ann Coulter! (this, uh, may be the first dvd I get).

I just came home from the film festival, and it was absolute heaven! The movie theater itself was pretty cool. They had comfortable chairs and tables for food. There were waiters to serve food and drinks including wine, beer, and cocktails from a menu. As far the movies, there wasn't one that I didn't like. Beyond the Passion of the Christ was excellent. It showed how the film was being received in Dallas, TX and in other countries. It also told inspiring stories about how the movie changed some lives. They interviewed a guy in Texas who confessed to murdering his girlfriend after her death had been ruled a suicide, and they also interviewed a Norwegian terrorist who turned himself in to police after seeing the movie. It was great. The two anti-Michael Moore movies were also great, and as a special surprise they screened "Stolen Valor" the anti-Kerry movie made by ex POW's. One of the best things about this festival is that most of the movie producers were there to speak and answer audience questions after their movie was shown. People came from all over the nation for this festival. It was awesome! I can hardly wait for next year.

I was a participant in the festival. There were a number of excellent documentaries I saw but I could not be in both theater rooms so cannot comment on all of them.

I was present at the VIP reception on Friday evening at the Intercontinental Hotel in Addison and Michael Medved gave a very inspiring speech to those of us who have made films or are in the process of making them.

This was a historic event. Never before have conservatives gathered together as a voice and movement to counter the enormous cultural power of the liberal left in Hollywood. We were present at a time of history. I personally met filmmakers from Maryland, Seattle, California and a number of other states. There were attendees who came from England, Illinois, Ohio, New Mexico and many other states and the local Texans were well represented.

Volunteers assisting with event activities included a large contingent of YCT (Young Conservatives of Texas). These were young people who had come from Austin, Amarillo, Houston and other Texas cities to be part of the event and to assist the sponsors of the event, Jim and Ellen Hubbard, husband and wife attorneys who idea this was and who have worked on setting this up for 18 months.

We saw the Showtime film DC 911, Time of Crisis which was practically an hour by hour reenactment of the the entire reaction of the President (played by Timothy Bottoms who was also present Friday evening) and his team. The acting and production was first-rate. It definitely portrayed the President as a man who stepped up to the plate and was exceptionally "presidential" throughout the days following 9/11. My only criticism of this movie was it was really too long to be watched in a single sitting. There was so much detail, the movie covered too much ground for a single showing. It was well-done.

On Saturday, I watched Remembering Saddam: Confronting Iraq...which is an exceptional documentary. This is the video you will want to share with people who are being told lies about the reasons we are fighting in Iraq. It is absolutely devastating to the left in its factual rebuttal by many experts to the absolute nonsense being thrown out about the war in Iraq being unnecessary. It's very powerful. You can find out more on this film by going to confrontingiraq.net

I saw Silent Victory which is a very powerful documentary focusing on F company of the 51st Long Range Patrol Infantry (Airborne) in Viet Nam. This was the first of the Long Range Recon Patrols called LRPS ("Lerps") It is delivered in the words of its own vets and contains powerful and graphic footage from the war itself. It also shows how the Tet offensive was devastating to the Viet Cong (breaking its back) and yet was portrayed by Walter Cronkite et al as a devastating loss by the U.S. and that misreporting in the U.S. led to a massive change in public opinion in the U.S. ....based on a pack of lies! I met Don and Annette Hall who used their own retirement money to make this movie as a tribute to Don's fellow LRPS in his unit. This movie brought me to tears. You can find out more about it at i-served.com

I also saw Covering Cuba 3 - Elian which was made by Agustin Blazquez, a fiercely patriotic Cuban American and exceptional filmmaker who documents the travesty of seizing by force and returning Elian Gonzales to Cuba. He uses powerful testimony from experts in the Cuban American community and footage of the event never before seen. I bought the DVD from Agustin at the festival. He was assisted by Jaums Sutton, who conducted the interviews in the film and Jaums was also present at the festival. These are some good guys! You can get a copy from cubacollectibles.com

I just got back from Dallas after a 12 hour drive so am exhausted right now. Suffice to say, I was moved and inspired by the entire experience.

I forgot to mention the fine documentary by Larry Elder, called Michael and Me.

Larry is the black man who is a talk show host. The subject is the truth about the how often firearms are used by ordinary Americans to stop attacks. One of the strongest accounts is the woman (now legislator in Texas) whose mother and father were shot, in her presence, in the Luby's Cafeteria slaughter a few years ago. You will recall the nutball rammed his pickup truck into the restaurant, stepped out and began systematically shooting to death nearly two dozen people who were helpless to return fire. Her account of thinking about her pistol in her vehicle 100 yards away was really dramatic.

In the documentary, Larry Elder confronts Michael Moore himself on a sidewalk and asks him if he has any idea how many times a year firearms are used effectively by Americans to defend themselves. In typical leftist fashion, Michael Moore emotionally interrupts and refuses to answer. He obviously does not know the answer and seeks to change the subject.

Elder tried to get Moore to come on his show and debate the subject. It, of course, didn't happen.

The film switches briefly to an animated short insert which is a mythical discussion between Moore and Elder on the subject. It is hilarious.

There are numerous people-on -the-street interviews highlighting the widespread ignorance about the second amendment and the effectiveness of using firearms to defend oneself. Several good exchanges take place between Elder and the black author of the book "Black Man With A Gun" whose baseball cap printed with that title got a huge audience laugh.

This is a fine film which would make huge strides with the general public on the truth about firearms if it were ever to be shown by mass media outlets. Highly recommended!
