Not to mention the faux artsy fartsy crowd of those with questionable sexual proclivities who have completely "Californicated" the place.
...used to be a nice place.
We still like to get up to the top of the ski trails in the Sante Fe National Forest and hike during the off season. We simply drive by the mess.
I love Santa Fe - I had a blast there earlier this year, and can't wait to go back...
(I wore a Bush/Cheney t-shirt there for a whole day wandering around town and didn't hae one comment directed at me, nor any incidents... )
Outside of Sante Fe is nice --- some very beautiful mountains and forests but the town itself is weird. You can get lost --- all the houses look the same -- I guess they must obey someone in charge of the way everything must look.

Lake Katherine?
Funny how liberal after they have ruined a place, used taxes to give themselves good jobs at good wager with good pensions, move to a low cost, well run, rational, safe conservative rural area, infiltrate local government and start all over again. They are like a political virus. The live off the host, weaken it, reproduce and move on to the next healthy host.
Well, Georgia O'Keefe left in 1916 because the Santa Féans were so full of themselves.
