In a development that could have devastating implications for John Kerry's presidential campaign, CBS News is refusing to say whether the top Democrat, his campaign aides or any other prominent party officials had anything to do with supplying "60 Minutes" with a National Guard memo about President Bush that experts say was forged.

CBS Won't Deny Kerry Link to Forged Docs
This is one of those times where "BWAAAAAA ha ha ha ha ha!" is a particularly fitting comment. I hope the networkds rot for their duplicity.

Dan's Daughter is an official in the Texas Democrat Party and is probably the source. This is the only logical reason for Dan and CBS stonewalling on an obvious loser.

"Lesley Stahl is doing a report on identity theft! I wonder if they'll interview Lt. Colonel Killian's ghost."
LoL!
Actually, it would be the least they could do -- admit that he was a victim of someone using his identity to create forged documents. He IS a victim of id theft . . .

embarrass the opposition.
Now that is an interesting choice of words here.
This goes way beyond embarrassing the opposition - this is criminal for both CBS and the DNC. The Democrats will pay for this stunt at the voting booth.
No, this won't be downplayed as merely "flushed cheeks".
Nice trying to downplay it, though.

I have a memo from Dan Rather's father that says in part "Dan really didn't type the memo's about Bush back in 1972 because I grounded him from the computer that year".
Signed

I think this story by Newsmax is the equivalent of a cowboy calling out the corrupt sheriff for a high noon shoot out.

"No one here at the Democratic National Committee had anything at all to do with any of those documents," McAuliffe told reporters. "I can unequivocally speak for the Kerry for President Campaign Committee, nor do they have anything to do with these documents. Absolutely not." Terry's a liar, he's definitely in this up to his eyeballs.

You know, I've been thinking about Arnold, especially in light of the dirty tricks that are just starting.
Considering the following:
1) During the California recall election, Susan Estrich was outraged at the LA Times with what she called "the Thursday before the Tuesday" hit piece on Arnold,
2) the CBS memo story as the first salvo in the post-convention assault on Bush by the DNC, and
3) Arnold deciding not to campaign with Bush at this time;
The Bush team should keep Arnold in reserve until The Thursday Before The Tuesday, when presumably, the Democrats will dump their dirtiest dirt (like the 25-year-old DUI charge). Then, Arnold can come out at Bush's side and say "They tried this with me and now they're trying it again with my friend, President Bush. I say that it's time to put an end to such dirty tricks and send a message that we're not going to take it anymore. I urge everyone to vote for George Bush!"

It's not about the documents, it's about the charge
Since when is it a journalists job to raise unsubstantiated charges? What ever happened to factual reporting? And aren't facts supposed to be corroborated by two or more sources?
