To: Timeout

Have you noticed that posters on Free Republic and other conservative sites are held to higher standards than the major media? That when we make mistakes, we 'fess up to them asap? That we are called on our mistakes and chastised for not researching or confirming our sources adequately?

Sometimes, I think our self-imposed criticism or ourselves and others' faux pas is a tad harsh at times, but it is better than no criticism. CBS should take lessons from Internet forums.

I've been basking in in the misery of DU for the last couple of days, and it just bugs the heck out of 'em that MSM picks up FR's stuff.
They wonder why that's so, but they fail to police themselves effectively, allowing threads like "Laura Bush was a Prostitute" to run rampant. When someone tries to criticize a thread like that (even a long time DU poster), they are called FReepers.
