Televangelist Paul Crouch, founder of the world's largest Christian broadcasting network, has waged a fierce legal battle to prevent a former employee from publicizing allegations that he and Crouch had a sexual encounter eight years ago.
Crouch, 70, is the president of Trinity Broadcasting Network, based in Orange County, whose Christian programming reaches millions of viewers around the world via satellite, cable and broadcast stations.
The source of the allegations against him is Enoch Lonnie Ford, who met Crouch at a TBN-affiliated drug treatment center in 1991 and later went to work for the ministry.
After Ford threatened to sue TBN in 1998, claiming that he had been unjustly fired, Crouch reached a $425,000 settlement with him. In return, Ford agreed, among other things, not to discuss his claim about a sexual encounter with the TV preacher.

Did you watch TBN or not? You said you did. I would never admit I ever watched that cartoon of a network.
I thought his post was right on target. Your showing your true colors (and I don't care what year you signed up on FR BTW..)
Throw your vile all you want, but don't expect it to stick to the teflon coated BS protected.
Like Michael Jackson, right?
>>Here's hoping that the TBN empire is sold for pennies on the dollar and falls into the hands of some sane Christian broadcasters.
Amen. I nominate R. C Sproul, D. James Kennedy, and John MacArthur. It would be nice to have some Biblical teaching on TBN rather than the lunacy of Jan and Paul and their guests. I've watched the program a few times with total incredulity and can only conclude that it is a complete abomination.
This latest revelation doesn't lower my opinion of him because nothing could lower my opinion of him.
Don't assume all Christians go to Church.
I am, I don't.
"Now's here's the kicker. I believe in The Almighty, and that He created the Heaven-Earth in Seven Days, like the Book says."
Please come down of your self-appointed riser.
What happened on the day after the Seven Days, and how long is a Day?
Now once again you prove you cannot read with understanding. Also "IF" you had read you would know that it was WRITTEN that there would be many that would come in Christ's name calling themselves "Christians" reason for it and what the result would be.
You are no better that those you cannot stand.
problem is.. why should an atheist be honest? what is their motivation to be honest? no morals no reason for honesty.
Lots of parents here in Cal definitely DO NOT deserve any medals.
So? My mother was agnostic until she started watching Jim and Tammy Baker. She wanted more than anything to go to Heritage USA. After they were punished and lost their ministry, she stopped watching, but her rekindled interest in God continued.
There's no point in mocking folks for watching ministry - I'd mock those who watched reality television programs - same difference, IMO.
I would never have the guts to admit I was suckered by these charlatans.
I was never suckered by charlatans. I watched, but wasn't taken in by charlatans. I stopped watching when they CHANGED.
Apparently this is too fine a point for your mind to process.
Your point is valid. But as to your shock over the number of people who assume this it true... no need. I grew up in So Cal just a couple of towns north of this TBN abomination. I found myself watching Crouch's channel 40 for its entertainment value, something akin to being fixated on train wreck. PTL and much of the other programming was/is so over-the-top that it just draws in the eye. Probably this is just part of their overall business model. Their schtick is mind manipulation and surely whatever entices a potential victim to watch is fine with them. Hence the lavender hair and bordello set. ~ SHUDDER ~
Once (circa 1986/7) I was so disgusted by one of their interview programs that I wrote a letter to Paul, giving specific examples of the offensive programming (an author was talking about her book and the host was so rude and belittling and demeaning to the guest, even I couldn't believe it). Paul wrote a personal letter back apologizing for the show. Of course, after that, I kept getting all sorts of junk mail from TBN. Even when I left the state it kept following me. I think it only stopped when I moved enough times to outpace the forwarding notifications TBN was getting from the post office.
[And about that host: I forget his name. He was a pastor of a church called Melodyland, not far from TBN, and was run out of town a year or two later after some "financial irregularies" with his church/ministry. Gee why was I not surprised.]
The accusations may be true, or Crouch may be a victim of extortion. But considering his and his wife's reputation and history, I can see why most here are inclined to presume the worst. Posters have seen the Crouch's in action before, and it isn't pretty. Character counts, and Paul Crouch doesn't score very high in that department.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like rich televangelists as I don't believe their convictions... but I don't like atheists using the bad apples as an excuse to bash Christianity. The left does this all the time and it's rather low.
Hum-ana-hum-ana-hum-ana.
Hey, if I had to share a bed with his orangutang of a wife, I'd be cheating like crazy!
More corruption from a 'man of God'.
Best Crouch joke, how come their set looks like it was designed by a heterosexual interior designer?
Holy Crap! People actually send these things money? Like, real cash?
