I just sent this off to the Slimes:

Dear Editor:

In your September 11th issue, By Mark Z. Barabak wrote:

"Many partisans relish the sight of the White House and Bush aides struggling to answer long-ago questions about Vietnam, after watching Sen. John F. Kerry being forced to defend his combat duty and subsequent antiwar activism."

Could you please provide me with dates and places when Senator Kerry has defended his combat duty and antiwar activism? Some quotes from the Senator on these two topics would be nice. President Bush signed Form 180 a while back to have all his military records released to the public. John Kerry is still refusing to sign Form 180. He will not allow his full military record to be seen by anyone other than himself. You tell me which man has something to hide.

"You've got to do damage control and maybe roll a few grenades under the other guy's tent"

In other words, they are admitting what everybody knows - that these are all conscious lies coming from the Kerry campaign purely as payback spin. Commies are shameless once caught.

The Democratic National Committee has established a needling name for its publicity effort — Operation Fortunate Son — taken from the 1969 antiwar anthem by Creedence Clearwater Revival.

They even have a code name for their opposition research. I guess John Kerry's just the Fortunate Gigolo.

The longer the attention is focused on 1971, the better Bush is going to do. After all, he HAS a record as commander-in-chief, so unlike for Kerry, whatever happened back then isn't relevant.

Secondly, Bush didn't make the Vietnam era the cornerstone of his campaign.

Thirdly, all the polls show the same thing regarding what it will take for Kerry to win: it will only be by convincing the American people that the economy is the nations overwhelming problem AND convincing Americans that he is the man to turn things around, not Bush.

The longer the nation is focused on the early 70s, the less time Kerry has to make that case.

This is why, again, I'm suspicious that the source of this is the Clintons, with the goal to have a damaged Bush win in the fall. The last thing the Clintons want is a Kerry win.

The only remaining question about the memos is where did they come from. That a clumsy criminal forgery took place is not in doubt. What we need to know is who is responsible. Unless Rather starts making sense, it looks like he's the one going down. What makes anyone think Rather didn't create the memos himself? If we go by Rather's own standard of proof he'll send the next 20 years in prison.

"Unless Rather starts making sense."

He hasn't up to now. What makes you think he will start doing so?

Handcuffs. He's at the center of a criminal conspiracy to use fraudulent documents to influence a federal election.

A strait jacket would be a better choice. Rather is clearly a mental case.

a guy with a Silver Star, Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts

They left out his FIVE Campaign Medals. (Medal and FOUR stars.)

Of course, he only served in TWO Campaigns.

Where did the extra three stars come from???

Check his web site...if he left the awards posted.

Many partisans relish the sight of the White House and Bush aides struggling to answer long-ago questions

I think they are confusing "struggling" with fits of uncontrollable laughter.

Make some noise to the guy or his employer,
or the press, or your co-workers.

If a Pubbie were this thoughtless, it'd be
called a HATE CRIME.

But there is one thing democrats agree upon. Karl Rove did it. Whatever it is.

Yes, obviously Karl Rove is using a mind control ray on them, and they forgot to wear their tin foil beanies.

Regards, Ivan
