""We believed Col. Hodges the first time we spoke with him. We believe the documents to be genuine. We stand by our story and will continue to report on it."
So CBS, faced with a witness who they misled and/or who recants within days, states they choose to believe him "the first time." What the heck journalistic standard is that, other than "we only believe witnesses when they say what we want"?
Wow, CBS needs to be honest. We are dealing with the death of truth in this country folks. He needs to go. No way he can stay on. We got him. Are we going to get down to the meaning of "is" soon? A country needs a guy like Rather to step down after a fiasco like this. He was caught, he has to go NOW!!!
They feel that it worked for JFK during Cuban Missile Crisis. Ignore Khruschev"s second letter and only reply to th first.
You know Dan rather really proves that old rule. No one is completely useless. You can always serve as a bad example.
This whole thing is reminding me of Blather's choice to exclude the Chandra/Condidit story from "his" broadcast for...how many weeks??? I can't remember. Hottest story on every other news program, and not one mention on Blather's.
