As a resident of Southern California, this is -- in a word -- sickening.

The nation's border czar yesterday said it is "not realistic" to think that law-enforcement authorities can arrest or deport the millions of illegal aliens now in the United States and does not think the American public has the "will ... to uproot" those aliens.

Okay, fine. Seal the borders, then. Mine them and put the National Guard on the U.S. Mexican border.

Personally, the "border czar" (what an asinine title) here needs to be deposed and replaced with someone willing to do his damned job.

Realistically?

This is the same loser who said recently that the borders are secure.

This guy wouldn't know realism from what he sees on TV even if someone shoved the paper weights on his desk up his pompous A$$.

No, they can't. Our Sheriff's department chases them all over my woods on our farm and have yet to catch one. The illegals come to TN by the droves to work tobacco. They work all day in the tobacco fields and steal all night. I don't know when they sleep. It's normal to see flashlights in my woods at night and we don't even farm anymore. When we questioned it we were told it was deputies chasing illegal Mexicans. Boy, can they run! There's no way our big 200lb deputies can catch those wiry little 120lb Mexicans. LOL

BTW, we don't have trouble out of the legal workers, just the illegals. The legals are all hard workers and do work local people won't do.

Rounding up and deporting is not the way to go. We have to streamline the process to enter the country for those who should be here and make it more difficult for those who shouldn't be here to enter.

How do we do that?

1. Empower the border patrol to take proactive action at the border and put the military there. Let's stop putting our troops in ungrateful countries like Germany, and put them on our own border.

2. Attack the mexican lobby head on. Drop the PCness and take an aggressive stance. If some calls you racist, who cares? You push back twice as hard. Stop running away from conservatism. We've let them change the debate from "Why are you entering our country in the first place?" to "How can we let these people suffer once they're here?"

3. Get rid of the red tape it takes to get into this country. There a many legitimate people waiting to get into this country to work, raise a family, etc. I happen to know first hand how difficult it is, as my wife is not from the U.S. and it was a nightmare. The embassies overseas are projecting an image of arrogance and we need to change that.

4. We are letting PCness get in the way of common sense. We must speak without fear of reprisal and state our beliefs clearly and effectively, and if some snivelling liberal complains, stand tall and proud by our beliefs.

Well these jackasses aren't rounding up any. All those deportations you hear about? 95% of them are Mexicans who are caught at the border and expelled back into Mexico. Interior enforcement (deportations) are nearly non existent.

False choice. Just have national ID cards with a swipe function, and send employers who hire illegals to jail when caught through random audits. When one wants to kill a tree, one doesn't do it by plucking off the leaves, one by one.

Oh, it may not be easy, but it is realistic, it is necessary!

Inaction in this regard simply is an invitation to the next several million wetbacks. We must take steps to reverse this invasion before it is too late. Because you are able to break into my house is not enough to give you the rights of a family member!

First, to MARK4: as a FReeper trapped in 56K dialup HELL, thanks for linking to the printer friendly version which has just two graphics and takes nine seconds to download. Versus 51 graphics and 66 seconds to download for the regular page. Thanks!!

WARNING: Rant follows...

Mr. Hutchinson, you are totally full of it. Poll after poll after poll have said Americans don't want our precious country invaded by a bunch of criminal aliens.

You said, "Our goal is to enforce the law as we see violations of the law." Oh, REALLY?? Go stand on the border in New Mexico or Arizona on any day and observe the hundreds and thousands of criminal aliens pouring into this country. Everyone represents a "violation of the law," as you put it. But you're doing nothing, NOTHING to stop them.

Yeah, yeah, there are 8+ million criminal aliens sucking on our resources now. But if you don't seal the border, in another year there will be a million more. What about this don't you understand?

Maybe an analogy will help. I have cancer. I know I have cancer because the doctors tell me I have cancer. They suggest I do something to rid my body of cancer. But I say, "What's the use, there's so much cancer you'll never be able to kill all of it." And so I do nothing. Guess what's gonna happen to me? Guess what IS HAPPENING to our country RIGHT NOW while you and your pander buddies [Last month, Mr. Hutchinson outlined a number of incentives to encourage aliens to support the plan, including provisions freeing them from arrest and deportation, giving them access to tax-deferred savings accounts and Social Security credits and allowing them unrestricted travel to and from their home countries] stand around with you finger stuck in a smelly bodily orifice, crying about how bad the problem is.

You guys are deliberately and willingly allowing our country to be destroyed from the inside. Disgusting.

</rant>

The nation's border czar yesterday said it is "not realistic" to think that law-enforcement authorities can arrest or deport the millions of illegal aliens now in the United States...

Of course it's realistic. It may be difficult, but it's certainly doable. All that's needed is a bureaucrat able to focus on the problem and do what's needed, instead of having an "oh well, can't do that, sorry" attitude

...and does not think the American public has the "will ... to uproot" those aliens.

The American people have more will power than the politicians who wring their hands and issue negative press releases. If we're to have a border czar let's get one with some spine.

That is so wrong! I am from California and I remember when illegals were rounded up and sent back. YOu start by going to placed where they congregate to get day work. I have been ticked about this one for a long time because in our town they built a special place for the guys to stand! They added cobblestone to the streets, rest rooms and cooking facilities, lines to stand in to que up in a more "fair" way! And this is for illegals! It sickens me!

Nobody needs to round up anybody, except perhaps the business owners who are failing to provide the infrastructure to pay for their cheep labor. The IRS has no problem going after business who don’t pay taxes, so why cant these same lawyers go after these business who are hiring slave laborers and fine the business the costs incurred on the rest of us to our health care, and social services from the added burden of their work force?

These people would leave if the IRS came after them too, the 50% or more of illegals that don’t pay income tax. If illegal immigrants were fined or jailed like the rest of us for forging Ids, job applications or failing to submit to the IRS, many would just go elsewhere in the third world where this is the normal mode of business, just like they want.

Furthermore, illegal immigrants would leave if word got out that some of them were being hauled into jail for driving without insurance, like the rest of us, or if their young men were made to register for the selective services, like the rest of us. These people would leave if they knew that they could be deported for committing crimes, or ending up in jail for life, like the rest of us would in their country. Illegal immigrants came here on their own free will and they would leave on their own free will if we stopped offering them bank accounts, drivers licenses, healthcare, food stamps, education, in state tuition ect..

This isn’t Nazi Germany , we don’t need rail cars, this is the USA , nation of laws and order, we just need to enforce the law we have equally and our politicians need to be reminded of this next time they see an opportunity to plagiarize, and look the other way at law breakers while hiding behind a race card for couple of votes!

If the Feds can't stomach it, State and local jurisdictions should be so empowered. It is they who must bear the burden of social service spending.

I live in Orange County, CA. On my way to work every day I see about 50-60 guys standing outside the Home Depot waiting for work. I would wager that at least 110% of them are illegals. They've completely taken over that part of the block. If those were Hookers looking for work instead of illegals, there would be all kinds of cops there filling up the paddy wagons. Why aren't they enforcing ALL the laws? What's the difference between an illegal and a hooker?

So if rounding them up isn't realistic how can he say there can be enforcement of them leaving should Bush's wannabe Amnesty plan was passed? They're *NOT* going to leave, plain and simple.

"Fifty-three percent of working-age Los Angeles County residents have trouble reading street signs or bus schedules..." and "Los Angeles has the highest rate of so-called undereducated adults of any major U.S. metropolitan area. Low-literacy rates reached 65% on the Eastside and 84% in South Los Angeles." (L.A. Times).

California taxpayers waste FIVE BILLION ($5,000,000,000) on funding services given to illegal immigrants.

Why does southern California congressman David Dreier, chair of the all-powerful House Rules committee have the WORST grade among all House Republicans when it comes to immigration in the past 3 3/4 yrs (a 24/100)? He barely edges Barney Frank (22/100) and Hillary Clinton (22/100)! He's worse than Maxine Waters (28/100) and John F'n Kerry (45/100)! and even Barbara Boxer (52/100)

THIS WEEK, WHY did David Dreier vote to give Social Security to illegal immigrants? He voted with members of the "Progressive Caucus, associated with the Democratic SOCIALISTS of America," like Pelosi, Frank, Waxman, Filner, Kucinich, Waters, Gutierrez, Jackson-Lee and many others and *NOT* with the majority of his own Republican Party, *NOT* with those with high grades on Stopping Illegal Immigration like Rohrabacher 100/100 and Tancredo 100/100?

WHY? WHY? WHY is Dreier in such a position of POWER within the party? WHY does he have $2.5 million in his re-election war chest in a *safe* GOP district? WHY does he go on TV and LIE about having a "strong stand on illegal immigration" and paint himself as with the majority of the Republican Party when *his record* during the first time for Bush 43 tells to TOTALLY different story.

"DREIER is a LIAR!" and "ASA lies to your face-ah!" This is *ONE* battlefront in the War on Terror the Bush Administration *is* AWOL on.
