Forty-Two Students Cited for Partying at Teacher's Home Plead No Contest The Associated Press
PEARSALL, Texas (AP) - Dozens of high school students cited for underage drinking when police busted a post-football game bash at a teacher's home have pleaded no contest. The 42 Pearsall High School football players, cheerleaders and band members were fined $65 each, a municipal court clerk said.
Adjudication was withheld, meaning the charge will not appear on their records if they successfully complete probation and a substance abuse seminar, the clerk said.
"Now we're going after the adults," police Chief Roland Hernandez told the San Antonio Express-News, the newspaper reported Saturday.
Police went to the teacher's home on Aug. 28 after finding an unconscious female student by a road. She was treated for alcohol poisoning and released.
Authorities have not identified the teacher, who is suspended with pay pending an investigation.
Officials said the teacher and her husband claimed they were asleep upstairs and did not know the students were drinking alcohol in their home. Hernandez said he wants to determine if the couple supplied the alcohol.
Asleep upstairs......????? With 42 drunk teens partying downstairs??
To sleep through 42 young high school age children partying, these two would have had to have been in a coma. Suspended with pay? I'm always glad to see evidence of the turnaround in our education system...
No child left behind!
I wonder if the school officials will have the courage to suspend the offenders from the team.

Was Billy Bob there?

A rival called the Indians? We are not in Kalifornia any more ToTo.
I know a band director who could sleep through a train wreck. On the spring trip, someone trip the fire alarm in the kitchen and he slept through it at 4:00AM.
Isn't "suspended with pay" a euphemism for "paid vacation"?
Either these suspensions should be "subject to pay" if acquited; or, "suspension with pay, subject to forfeiture, if convicted".
I am sick of this practice, as it stands, at all levels.
It's ironic, that calls have been made to drug test high school kids, yet not a word said about conducting ramdon testing on public school teachers.
Sleeping up stairs? LOL!
It's actually a euphemism for "this teacher should be fired, but we are afraid of the union's lawyers".
She was probably just making a beer run.
Actually I was originally going to make a joke and say "one child left behind", but I thought it might be in poor taste :/
I suppose that's true, but would you leave 42 underage high school kids downstairs partying in your home? This doesn't really pass the sniff test for me.
True.
