We've had a lot of new folks join up recently. Welcome aboard, this thread is a gentle reminder of some basic posting guidelines. (And for some of you old timers as well) Please read the follow, and ask any questions. We will all try to help you out.
SEARCH
If it's a breaking news topic, check breaking news first, it's probably already posted.
To avoid duplicate posts, please search before posting. Use the published article title to prevent duplicates. The best method to search is to pick a key word or two from the title. If the article you are posting is, "Dan Rather Memo", start with 'Memo' for the key word. If it is a hot topic, you might want to use two or more keywords, in this case, try 'memo rather'. For an effective search, select 'match all words' and select 'order by post time'.
All non-sourced non-news threads are posted here. This doesnt mean your one thought is a thread by itself. Lately, we have been seeing articles posted that should be comments made on the main article. Your comment/vanity article will be pulled or moved to General Interest (Chat). Vanities should be limited to the mission of Free Republic.
For all of you who have blogs or personal web sites or personal news or opinion or forum sites that you would like to discuss or promote on Free Republic, here's the place to do it.
Our new Bloggers & Personal forum is for:
- Posting from your blog.
- Posting from other peoples blogs.
- Posting your from your personal web site.

Can we have an option to search for articles by author?
An my wife is the one on the left!
Nothing. It's the whole super-premeditated nature of the trolling that ticks me off. The ones that come in for a drive-by Trolling are really immature and impulsive. The one who have been waiting in the woodwork for +6 years to Troll is another level of liberal insanity altogether.
I'm the cool mod, but not that cool.
Noticed? You should see what our abuse report page looks like!
That has been added to our profile. It's perfect.
I didn't "think" about THAT!
A hurricane of your own, huh?
Moderators do not have any control over the coding, that's strictly John's area.
I just want to jump in here and say to YOU and all the ADMIN MODERATORS, "Thank you for the job you do. We appreciate you, we love you and we bless you." Now go forth and smite.
Thanks, just thought I'd ask :-). It would help with the duplicates on editorials, although maybe not with the AP unless they list an author.
Mods have posted this same thing from time to time in the past, yet it continues. Perhaps it is time to start sanctions against some of the chronic vanity offenders. How about a 30 day posting priv suspension? Even better, how about a 10 day posting priv suspension for everyone that replies to one of these mindless vanities?
Thanks, we all need a refresher from time to time.
I agree, but, there is nothing we can do to prevent them from trolling. Unless they sign up with a really stupid screen name. Believe me, we see some incredibly stupid names. "Ihateconservatives" got the boot before he even got a chance to active his account. Then, the rocket scientist signed up with "Ihateconservatives2". And that's a mild name. You should see some of the profain names people try to get away with.
Youcn turn auto-loadng of pictures off in almost any browser. What are you using?
PS, the bank cleared your check.
