Off topic but my son submitted 2 or 3 FIO requests last week and I'm curious as to how long it will take to get responses. But I guess it varies depending on info requested and even which branches of government they were submitted too.

I believe under the Federal FOIA requirements, there is either a two or three WORK WEEK time limit.
Now, if you get a lawyer involved, they will try obfuscation, and sometimes outright denial. They will force you into court to get the FOIA request honored.
The good news is that there is so much solid case law on the issue that if someone did a little homework, they likely wouldn't need a lawyer to win...
