"George W. Bush ought to wake up every morning and thank the Lord the media aren't on his side."

Ha! How true!

George W. Bush ought to wake up every morning and thank the Lord the media aren't on his side.
It isn't an accident that "the media" are on John Kerry's side and not on George W. Bush's side.

Journalism doesn't pick sides, politicians do. Liberal politicians simply align themselves with journalism's negative, superficial perspective, and conservative poliicians oppose that cynical perspective.

Why Broadcast Journalism is
Unnecessary and Illegitimate

Imagine how much money the alphabets woudl save if they finally just killed off their dunsel newsrooms. All three alphabets diliver teh same news every day with just a different person reading the script.

I saw that sniveling lizard Oliphant on PBS scolding John O'Neill -- I was amazed and inspired by O'Neill's self-control and poise in the face of it.

That is a lesson for all of us to take.

The Dem-media is never going to 'fall on its sword', that would imply a sense of honor. We now know the answer to the theoretical question, 'would the media turn against Clinton if he killed someone in broad daylight?'

The answer is of course not. There is always another excuse, and there are always 20% of the people who will believe it.

Letting Rather and the media and the Dem-media he represents twist in the winds of ignominy is a good outcome here.

What I like is that a small fracture has opened among the networks. There is an opportunity awaiting for whoever wants to show some honesty. Plus, the fact that this story is making the rounds of the networks makes it potentially damaging -- because only those who listen to the Dem-media were susceptible to Rather's story in the first place. The rebuttal is being made in the proper places -- Bush is wise to let this play itself out. It is not a killing blow to the Dem-media, but it is another large chunk of flesh.

Steyn proves here, mockery of the media will be a more effective weapon here than any legal action. They can either clean their own house, or continue to live in squalor.

The media and the Democrats sustain each other's make-believe land. Dan Rather tells his staff, ''Kerry's told me there's nothing to this Swiftvet thing.'' Kerry tells his, ''Rather's assured me this Swiftvet story's going nowhere.''

This is the essence of the article and the primary reason that the Democrats and the MSM are losing so badly. They refuse to face the reality of the situation around them.

The great thing about Memogate is that THIS is what Rather will be remembered for. And who says there is no justice in the world?

"2004 will go down in history as another election L-A-N-D-S-L-I-D-E for the Republicans over a totally inept democratic candidate BUT MOST OF ALL IT WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS THE YEAR THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA MAGGOTS LOST THEIR POWER TO INFLUENCE AMERICAN ELECTIONS.
Goodbye and good ridance."

I so hope you're right....

Isn't it funny how "journalistic standards" can be so dramatically lowered when they WANT THE STORY TO BE TRUE?
