Why would this story be reported before it lands?
Demonstrating the nuisance factor? LOL, I don't know, really.
I wonder if the passengers know what is going on. If they don't, they may get calls from loved ones on the ground causing great anxiety to the passengers.
Local news only mentioned the story once so far, guess it's not a big deal. /sarcasm
Update
AMSTERDAM The bomb threat made against a Chicago-bound flight that departed from Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam on Tuesday was a hoax and the plane will not make an emergency landing, Dutch military police said.
A Dutch local broadcaster RTL Holland said on Tuesday it had received an email warning that a bomb was on board the United Airlines/Scandinavian Airlines flight that departed from Amsterdam soon after 11am.
United Airlines and Dutch authorities initially took the threat very seriously, but, military police later decided to allow the plane to fly uninterrupted to its destination.
The decision was based on a risk analysis conducted after the bomb threat was made. The analysis examined passenger details, the baggage onboard and the check-in procedure, newspaper
De Telegraaf reported.
Military police informed authorities in the Netherlands and internationally about the threat, such as those in the US and the countries that the plane will pass overhead.
The email suspected to have been sent from Germany said in English: "Bomb to America". It then said in Dutch: "Flight SK3909 from Amsterdam to Chicago has a bomb for Iraq. America will see. Message for you".
RTV Noord Holland immediately alerted police after receiving the message at about midday. Flight SK 3909 flew above Ireland at 12.45pm.
