the United States will withdraw a total of 12,500 troops from South Korea by 2008.

That's not even a full sized infantry division. IIRC that would be the 2nd ID aka the "Indian Head" division. They wouldn't leave some of the outfit behind. My guess is that these troops will be combat service support troops. Not frontline trigger pullers.

IIRC the 2nd div has 2 combat brigades in S. Korea w/ division support and the other combat brigade is at Ft. Lewis. Everything I've heard is that we're going to be pulling out the combat troops and not just the CSS folks.
