Well, the CBS guy on O'Reilly last night that made the "pajama" remark also said their producer had been working on this for 4 years.
Four years, well then what was the holdup. Waiting for the "smoking gun"...well they got it, but the "smoking gun" seems to have blown up in their faces.
I believe it has to be intense hatred of Bush that made them so blind to their own bias that they ran with an ill-researched piece. After all, they've had every hit guy from Clark to Wilson on their show this year.
They didn't disclose the conflict of interests between the books and Viacom, etc.
They'd made lots of mistakes while trying to take down GWB, only this time it's backfired on them!
Hasn't hurt GWB a bit, but probably done irreparable damage to CBS and also spilled over to discredit the DNC (since they're standing behind the forgeries, carrying water for Rather).
You're correct .. it was with Tony Snow
Two comments:
1. Everyone knows when one wears pajamas, one's brain stops working.
2. If they worked on this story for four years and couldn't find anything damning on GWB, they reached a point at which the election is mere weeks away. They could not allow four years' of hard work trying to uncover something which did not exist to go to waste. They became desparate to go on air with *something* damaging to Bush.
What's the pajama part?
Well, the CBS guy on O'Reilly last night that made the "pajama" remark also said their producer had been working on this for 4 years.
Right. Four years. It took them four years to come up with a crappy forgery of President Bush's supposed poor military service? Brilliant, aren't they?
