Hodges says he was misled by CBS
ABC News ^ | 9-10-04 | ABC news website

HODGES SAID HE WAS MISLED BY CBS: Retired Maj. General Hodges, Killian's supervisor at the Grd, tells ABC News that he feels CBS misled him about the documents they uncovered. According to Hodges, CBS told him the documents were "handwritten" and after CBS read him excerpts he said, "well if he wrote them that's what he felt."

Hodges also said he did not see the documents in the 70's and he cannot authenticate the documents or the contents. His personal belief is that the documents have been "computer generated" and are a "fraud".

Look, we know that CBS is just a bunch of people who think they are very smart, trying to push the rest of us in directions that they know, are good for us. Their lever is broadcast news. They are like zealots and care not for truth or standards, only ethics, that is playing according to a set of rules to get the needed "backup" for what they produce so it will get by higher ups.

This is just damning. Here's ABC pouring boiling oil on their buddies at CBS.

There's an interesting "Prisoners' Dilemma" here. Neither Tom Brokaw nor Peter Jennings want to do anything to help Bush. But they both know that if the other one takes down Dan Rather, he'll be the new #1 and they will be left to rot. So even though neither one of them wants to do it, they will both try to take down Dan Rather.

Bwaa ha ha.

This knocks out a leg that Rather was standing on. From Howie Kurtz of WaPo: In an interview, Rather stressed that CBS had talked to two people who worked with Killian in the Texas Guard -- his superior, retired Maj. Gen. Bobby Hodges, and his administrative assistant, Robert Strong -- and both described the memos as consistent with what they knew of Killian. Hodges, who told CBS he was "familiar" with the documents, is an avid Bush supporter, and "it took a lot for him to speak the truth," Rather said. It apparently was too much to ask for CBS to speak the truth to Hodges, too.

This is a real meltdown. Everywhere you look this story just falls apart. Every aspect of it is an outright fraud, a lie or a misrepresentation.

I think that a journalist's zest for fanning the flames engulfing a competitor would even dwarf their disdain for Bush. But I'm sure it's a bittersweet experience.

Or they've thrown in the towel for 2004 and want to help Hillary for 2008.

CBS slime ought to pay for what theyve done, but what can anyone do? The Bush campaign probably wouldnt "sue" them even if they could. I guess we have to hope CBS's loss of credibility and prestige will also lead to a loss of viewers and revenue.

The son, the wife and now the commanding officer of Killian all saying without reservation that no way are these memos real.
Killian of course now long since deceased, and unable to respond to his being used as a political pawn by the reprehensible and "wild-eyed" Drone Blather.

So, what does CBS do now?
They will try to smear this man as untrustworthy and unreliable, although they have previously found him credible enough to have used him as one of their 2 TANG sources.

I'm still waiting to hear from what imaginary universe these memos came from, as that seems pretty important. The family says no way did they come from them, who else would have had access to the personal files?

Exactrly. Same goes for Kerry. If Kerry keeps trailing they will eat his liver to get the ratings they want.

Small problem - Dan Rather hasn't been #1 in a long time. Someone else is already #1.

So? Whoever takes down Dan Rather will be the new #1. If you were #1 now, would you bet that the other guy will do nothing?

Email Dan Rather at: evening@cbs.com
Here's mine

Dear Useful Liberal Idiot:

I hope you realize you have just killed your network!

Stand by these documents?? TOO FUNNY!!!!!!!!! What a moron you have turned into, not like you weren't always a moron, just that you have really turned into a real classic.

Um, Dan, I realize that you probably don't know what a "computer" is and how it is different from a typewriter which was so common in 1972, but maybe one of the young whippersnappers in the "newsroom" can point out the differences.
You see, some years ago, "computers" were invented, which create type EXACTLY like that on the "Authenticated documents" that you are standing behind, and which were supposedly written in secret in 1972.

Well, good luck with all of your "issues", and RIP to any last lingering credibility you might have once had.

I am going to email ABC, NBC, and the WAPO and ask a couple of questions.

How do you guys feel being treated like Dan Rather's bitch by him and CBS?

Rather said anyone who said the documents might be fakes are just a bunch of right wing partisan hacks with no credibility?

You going to just roll over for him again, are you "real" jounalists, or Rather's girliemen?

Bwaa ha ha.

I'm gonna love watching these two feast on the carcass of their collegue. Network news used to be a dirty business. Brokaw and Jennings have been living on Easy Street for too long. If they both look the other way, the few remaining viewers they have will too.

The CBS Evening News may be dying on the vine but 60 Minutes is still a crown jewel and just too tempting for either of these jokers to not go after. And even if they wanted to avoid this the network execs will insist.

I like it...
