I think Clinton would have been to busy sharing his cigar to be bother by something as trivial as Mullah Omar

Little came of the contact, although Mullah Mohammed Omar counseled the department that the United States would never be accepted as a friend of the Muslims unless Congress forced Clinton to resign.Remember when Clinton was being impeached, the argument was "how much damage can he do in 2 years"? THIS MUCH...

(In another section, Malinowski wrote, "He said that in order to rebuild U.S. popularity in the Islamic world and because of (Clinton's) current domestic difficulties Congress should force President Clinton to resign.")
Seems to me that Omar had the right idea.

Now let me get this straight...AP tells us that the crowd booed when President Bush announced that Slick had a heart problem, right?
And that was proven a lie but AP refused to apologize or even issue a correction, right? (And I recall reading that the editor of AP said, about that, "Why should I?")
And now we are supposed to believe this crap from AP, right?
I don't think so...let's get another source we can trust...maybe al Jazeera?

"The message, drafted by Michael E. Malinowski, then the head of the State Department's Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh desk, reported what is believed to be the first and perhaps only U.S. contact with the rabidly anti-American Muslim cleric."
Tecnically not true. The one-eyed mullah had some contact with American bomb fragments in Afghanistan, just not enough of it :)

And we "learn" this six years later? Imagine what info we aren't given to chew on? I know that the USA had official and unofficial dialog with the Taliban regime. Heck, our own government was spit as to having them be the government of Afghanistan so we could make some deals.
The key to this story is the former Taliban Foreign Minister who wanted to deal with the US. He is known to have delt with Tahir Yildash a Uzbekistan terrorist who wanted the US not to bomb them off the face of the Earth.

The message was provided to The Associated Press by the National Security Archive, an independent nongovernmental research group based at George Washington University that collects previously secret government documents. The archive said it obtained the document through a Freedom of Information Act request. Hmmm. Clinton resume padding from Sandy Berger's pants-stuffing days?

Dang, this is a semi-oldie. Thanks!
Are we sure it was Mullah Omar and not just some college kids in the Middle East playing a prank?
The Mullah was ahead of the curve, if so, heck even the uS Senate gave Bubba a pass.
